Recommendations for Clay Lube

Griot's Garage Speed Shine

Mother's Showtime.

Both are very good and locally available.

Speed Shine works well as a lube. Also available locally.

Ultima Waterless Wash works great with a nanoskin mitt or regular clay.

I buy the Mothers kit locally when I need clay. The Mothers Showtime works excellent.
After that runs out I use ONRW&W.

Not to bash on D114 because it is my fave but boy does it suck as a clay lube.
Don't get me wrong, it is slick as snot for claying but it destroys the Mothers clay.

Yep, that's pretty much all I use.

Just wondering, will the chemicals in ONR have a negative effect on the compound/polish/sealants if I use it as a clay lube? Or will I need to use a cleaner/IPA before applying any of those? Thanks!

It should have little to no affect on your sealant of choice. It should not matter all with polishes or compounds.

I mix and match various different rinseless washes (some with and without protection) and spray waxes and sealants without any issues that I know of.

Ok, thanks!!!

Speed Shine was my lube because I found the gallon size containers for $1.75 at AA last year when the product size was cleared out. ONW now as a 32 oz bottle makes 16 gallons of lube and it works well.

If you're polishing after claying, I wouldn't suggest using rinseless washes, detailers, or spray waxes that leave behind polymers that could interfere with your polishing process. I use nanoskin glide or poorboy's spray n wipe as a clay lube which don't leave anything behind that would cause interference. Any detailer that is body shop safe would be a good indicator to use.

I use whatever I have near normally uber or uww+, anything that's slick will work all you need is some lubrication. I like onr because I mix is to qd strength and use it for everything inside and out

There's a big difference between what ONR leaves behind vs. a spray wax. I've had no problems polishing after using ONR.
