Today, I did a paint correction for a customer and used HD Adapt for the first time. Yesterday, I used HD Speed for the first time and absolutely love that stuff.

The results on this paint correction was beautiful and this trucks paint was a mini train wreck. The truck was covered in heavy oxidation. The truck was cloudy and no shine to the paint. As I began using the HD Apapt I noticed it was far more difficult to remove than Speed. With Speed, the stuff came off like butter. It was so easy and almost no work involved to remove.

With HD Adapt, my arms got a work out big time. The final results were fantastic but the ease of removal was difficult. Am I doing something wrong? Is this normal for HD Adapt to have a tough removal? Speeds removal was absolutely amazing.

Did I use too much product? The work time with the HD Apapt seems far shorter than Speed. HD Adapt seems thicker and dries out much faster. At times , it was a bit brutal removing portions of HD Adapt. Once off, the results were great.

For this detail, the car was power washed first! Foam gun with Mr. Pink and clayed with a clay mitt. (Love the clay mitt). Paint corrected with HD Adapt and Speed for my LSP.

ADAPT is a PITA to use. I had the same problem with removal on several occasions, so I stopped using it. There are a lot of ADAPT fanboys on here, so make sure they don't tell you it was "user error". ADAPT has been discontinued, by the way. HD CUT has the same problem. SPEED is awesome, though.

No doubt HDSpeed is amazing stuff. It's my go-to polish and AIO now. HD Adapt is also a great product and is IMO, more of a mild compound vs polish, yet it finishes amazingly well; as good as HDSpeed. The key with adapt is to use no more than a handful 4-5 small pea size drops on the average 5-6" pad. No priming either. Swap pads ever 2 panels as it's a very thin / liquid like product and tends to soak into pads and then redeposits itself which in turn causes too much product to be used.

When working adapt, work it until it becomes nothing more than a faint haze on the panel. If you stop too early or leave to much product on the surface it will be difficult to remove.

in terms of product, see my points above. I have used Adapt extensively and again, key is 4-5 pea size drops, work it until it's nearly gone and change pads every 2 panels. I can't say I've had a problem with it drying too early. Consistancy wise it's a thinner more watery product vs HDSpeed. At least my product always have been and I have a brand new 320z bottle and a 3/4 16oz bottle left.

Thanks sir. So HD cut has the same issues as HD Adapt. Interesting

Thanks for the kind words on the truck. Great information and let me watch the video. So the key is switching the pads very often. I did stick with 4 to 5 pea sized drops. I did use on way more panels than 2. It was a b#### getting off. Great results but I'm like holy $hit.

HD Speed was so easy to use and one pad was enough for the truck. I wound up using 2 pads on the truck and did notice how full the pad was of product
 
And if you let speed dry while polishing the rest of the car and wipe at the end IT COMES OFF LIKE A FREAKING DREAM! Towel weight and tiny tiny pressure will wipe it off.
 
I love HDAdapt personally. However, I've been messing with M105/M205 more and more. Just be sure if you're using 1 or 2 pads, that they're not becoming over loaded. Be sure to blow out the pads, or clean them on the fly, to ensure that's not happening. You'll eventually get enough build up in/on the pad that you'll reduce the effectiveness. GREAT results on the truck though. Looks wonderful.

Key to keeping things moving smoothly and efficiently is swapping pads. Even on clean cars that is key with something like HD Speed. ON dirty cars I used 5-6 pads on clean cars just routine polishing 4 maybe 5.

Any areas that become a little difficult to remove are tackled quickly with some detail spray or Wolfgang Uber mixed up as that. I usually go over my cars with a detail spray to wipe away any missed areas, dust, etc. regardless.
 
I don't really have a dog in this hunt since I would consider myself a Menzerna "fan boy," but I've had no issues with Adapt (or Polish or Speed; I haven't used Cut). I've used Adapt with orange cutting pads and yellow polishing pads and have seen great results.

The results were definitely great with the HD Adapt. Since you are a Menzerna fan boy let me ask you this sir. How does the FG400 compare to the Adapt. I see on the chart they give it an 8 on cut and 8 on polish. That's quite amazing.

How tough is FG400 to remove? Do you need to change pads every few panels as well like Adapt?

FG400 will cut more and finishes pretty darned good. You don't have to change pads as often with FG400. Try Griots Fast Correct Cream. It's the best compound I've ever used.
 
It's a good idea to frequently change or clean pads. Remember you are removing paint/clear that also gums up pads. I'm a Menz fan.

Tried Adapt yesterday for the first time (got a bottle when i heard it was going away and it seemed like such a nice concept)...was just doing a trunk lid and man, that stuff stuck like glue. Buffed it off with some D300 because even extensive wiping wouldn't remove the trails/residue it left.

Gonna give it a try tomorrow again after reading above. Guessing i likely used too much product as i did prime the pad then used about 5 small drops too. LC flat pads, yellow and orange.

Hopefully it'll work as others have said it does because I think it's a cool concept in a bottle.

I sure did sir. I was just kidding when I wrote there are others. Lol. I'll have to look at your recommendations. Appreciate the information. I just bought two 32 oz bottles of Adapt last week.
 
I've had the same problem with HD Adapt I started a thread "HD Adapt Issue". I hope I'm not breaking any rules by mentioning another thread. But I may have committed a mortal sin. I primed a white LC flat pad with Meg's 205 and 3 pea sized dots of HD Adapt and got longer work time and finished out very nicely. If anyone else tries this let us know how it works for you. Just my experience.
