Black Honda Odyssey - big PITA - corrected and coated

Well I finally got around to giving my wife's 2014 Honda Odyssey some love. It often seems like my own vehicles get pushed aside while trying to take care of other requests. The van hadn't seen a polisher since it was new and definitely had some issues to correct. I found the Honda paint to be pretty finicky and a bit of a challenge.

Process

Wheels and Wells
- Wheels cleaned with Griots Garage HD Wheel Cleaner, Wheel Woolies, Boars Hair Brushes and MicroFiber Madness IncrediFlair Mitt
- Tires cleaned with OPC and Tuff Shine Brush
- Wheels sealed with Hydro2
- Tires Dressed with CarPro Perl 1:1

Wash
- 2BM with Optimum Car Wash, Adams Wash Mitt
- Dried with Master Blaster and GG PFM Drying Towel

Decontamination
- IronX and Tarminator
- Clayed with NanoSkin Medium Wash Mitt
- Smaller areas hit with NanoSkin fine sponge

Correction/Polish
- Flex 3401 and Rupes 75 Mini with Scholl Concepts S20 Black
- Scholl Concepts Navy Spider Pads, LC Hybrid Orange pads

Van was then washed down with ONR and wiped with Optimum Paint Prep

LSP
- 2 coats of Optimum Gloss Coat
- 1 coat of Opti Seal


Before Pictures

The paint had a lot of swirls, scratches and scuffs. I tried several different polish and pad combos before settling on Scholl Concepts S20 Black. This is the only polish that didn't stick to the paint and was easy to remove.

Finished results. This was my first time using Optimum Gloss Coat and Opti Seal and found both to be very easy to apply.

Looks great! We have one of these at home as well but in Silver. My wife wanted black but I knew with the abuse it would take hauling our kids around I'd be out in the garage every day working on it (I would've been fine with that - my wife not so much). The first day we brought it home I gave it a good wash, light clay and applied a coat of Gloss Coat. It's stayed looking good and with the silver you can barely tell when it's dirty - the tires and glass give it away when they're dirty. Would not want to attempt to polish that sucker (especially with Honda's notoriously soft/sticky paint) so kudos to you!

Same here - 4 kids climbing in and out and hauling all over the place has taken its toll.

But did you do any work on the Rug Rat Pit? That's generally the biggest chore whenever I do a minivan.
