I'm a frequent customer of a local mechanic shop. Whenever I'm in there, I always promote my business and they love working on my cars because they state everything is so clean and easy to work with. I get a call out of the blue from the shop manager who just picked up a 2000 Lincoln TC and wants to use it as his daily driver/project "Hot Rod Lincoln". He's already made many mods under the hood, suspension and exhaust system. When I went to see it I stated, It's not the typical vehicle LSN usually takes in, but due to our business relationship and the fact I always love a challenge, I said, and sure why not LSN can take it.
We both agreed not to clean under the hood, due to the fact he's already doing a lot of work under there and cleaning as he's going. Plus with 244,000 miles he made me aware of some exposed wiring that he's come across. Ok, no engine bay!
Car was a mess, owned by a previous heavy chain smoker who never thought to detail the car. Interior was a disaster. Stains in the carpet were very bad. We did everything we could for the interior, but this is just one of those cases where it was a best effort. I wished we could have got better results, but after 16 years, I suspect heavy smoking was the cause of the carpet and there was no getting the yellowing out. If not, my other theory was leaching of the dye in the mats. Dunno. :-(
