Help with torch red C5 corvette RIDS

Ya I was actually quite surprised. The Uber compound has been working awesome for me lately. I've been just compounding with orange pad and been able to seal or coat right after on daily drivers as it finishes so well and it has a ton of corrections . However on this Vette paint it had no cut at all. I would say it was acting like a swirl remover or fine polish. This m105 I can actually see it cutting when I go over scratches. Something the Uber compound did not do.
Yep, there's a reason why M105 has been the benchmark for cutting ability to this day. If it wasn't such a PITA to use on some paints, I'd still have it in my arsenal.

Well Griot's fast cut MF pads arrived as well as my fast correcting cream and correcting cream. Like everyone else I am blown away by this system. I'm for sure getting a g15 and the rest of the pads now. In one pass with the fast correcting cream and MF pads I had about 80% cut on the rids and it was nearly lsp ready. Had it been a daily driver I would have applied sealant right after but since it's my garage queen I went over with correcting cream and a lake country orange pad to finish. Still had some barely noticeable micro marring from the da in a couple spots but you had to want to find a defect to see them. I still have some deep scratches that I didn't want to chase but they are much lighter now than before. I can't believe the cut a MF pad has compared to foam and I love every part of the Griot's boss system.
Funny next month for our anniversary we are heading to Seattle from Portland where we live and I told my wife I wanted to stop at Griot's HQ on the way. This was a couple months ago. Now I told her we better save up as it might be a big bill there!
I just applied my first coat of wg paint sealant and that is curing. Tomorrow will be another coat then next week a couple topping of Pinnacle souveran spray wax. I will try to post a picture in the sun but it's hard to find a sunny day this year in Portland. Thanks for all the tips!

Did you get the Griots MF pads with no foam backing?

Yes I did. I was mixed about doing those vs the foam as the cfoam would make it easier on the contours of the car. But I see the foam being an issue with delamination in the future.

Smart move, as the no foam will work much better on an 8mm DA. If you get a G15, you'll want to get the BOSS MF pads(with foam). They won't delaminate.

Good to know. I thought I saw a post about that before I ordered so I made sure. Do you have the g15 or g21? This PC is shaking me to death. I polished 75% of the car yesterday and my hands tingled for 2 hours. I've gotten used to it over the years but it's hard to do a car over the weekend. I detail my extended families cars each year at least once and my hands really hate the PC. Hoping to try the g15 when I'm in Tacoma at gg next month heard it's lot smoother but $365 is a chunk of change for a weekend warrior. I use drills, saws, rotary polishers etc everyday for my work too and the PC still hurts my hands.

^ that's one reason why i don't really like using my PC much is because it's a rattle trap and not really ergonomic to hold onto for long periods of time...

And some dummy who designed it decided to not make a flat back on it so it sets pad face up on it's back when you set it down to wipe. Is the g15 quiet and smoother?

if you don't plan on using a polisher often have you considered the GG6? it's no slouch and more comfortable/ergonomic to use compared to the PC and has more power/torque...

The Harbor Freight DA is more powerful than the GG 6" and its only $50. It is loud, however. Make the jump to the G15. It's much smoother than the PC.

i disagree. i had the HF DA when they first came out and comparing it to the GG6, the GG6 had more more power/torque and felt more solid with less vibration. however, i do think it's better than the PC/XP...

They came out a while ago. They may have changed. I just picked one up a couple weeks ago and ended up selling my GG 6" because the HF is more powerful. Vibration was about the same to me.

if i needed another pc-style DA i would consider the HF DA but the GG6 (have the 2nd gen/first batch) does everything i need it to. it will not stop rotating unless you put ridiculous amount of pressure that you normally wouldn't do anyway. the HF DA would bog down when i applied pressure. if you're happy with your HF DA, then that's all that matters... :xyxthumbs:

btw, to the OP - you'll love either the G15 or G21!

to the OP, check out this video (in regards to the GG6)...

The 2nd generation(early release) GG 6" is more powerful than the 3rd generation, without a doubt. So, what your saying makes sense now. I loved my 2nd gen GG 6", until it finally stopped working about 4 months ago. They sent me a 3rd gen and I was unimpressed. Bought a HF recently(updated design) and sold the 3rd gen GG 6".

interesting. the only changes in the 2nd gen and current 3rd gen is just the exterior and the motor is still the same..

Have you ever tried a 3rd gen? I made a video a while back comparing the 2nd and 3rd gen and the 2nd gen was clearly more powerful. Something changed.

haven't just yet but also have another 2nd gen with the same body style but the sticker is different where polishing says 4-5 as where my first one says 5-6. don't know other than that if anything has changed but after using both it doesn't seem to be any different. could you post the video on here?

Thanks for the videos but honestly I'd rather get a long throw if I'm going to spend the coin. I mean if the gg6 is just a mild upgrade over the PC XP then i don't want to spend $150. But I'm hearing there is a large increase in production with a g15 so if I'm going to do it then I'll bite the bullet and go for the $365 g15. Is there a large increase in production for all aspects of polishing with the g15? I.e. compounding, polishing and aio's

there's some open box deals on both the G15 and G21 (still comes with warranty), call them and see if there is any more wiggle room it never hurts to try... ;)
