We had some wicked weather yesterday.. Wow is all I can say..
Yesterday morning when I left for work, we were under a 'slight' risk for severe weather yesterday afternoon.. Thats normal around here, we always get some crazy weather.. Get home from work, look at the weather radar, and see some stuff developing.. Round 1 actually develops right over our town.. Nothing but a little rain and lightning here.. Round 2 develops to the southeast and is pretty strong when it hit here.. Tornado warning and funnel clouds spotted, but turned out to be just another strong thunderstorm.. 30 minutes after that one we get another storm of the same caliber, another seperate tornado warning, more funnel clouds spotted, but no touchdown (here at least).. Everybody thinks we're in the clear, but little did they know, the 'main event' was brewing to the south east and heading straight for us..
No clue how big it was, but I don't think it was anywhere near as big as the last one (F-3) that hit here in 2000 which hit about 1.5 miles from my house.. At least the width of the path of destruction. But this one hit a little closer to home. It hit literally about 300 -400yds (1/4 mile max) from my house.. Buildings blown down, roofs blown off, cars overturned, trees now sitting in houses, and powerlines down all over the place, and thats just in my neighborhood.. It headed straight from here through downtown Owensboro where it did a whole lot more damage.. Had this been a big one it could've been really REALLY bad..
I am going to try to get downtown here in a little while to take some pics, but they have it locked down pretty tight.. Plus I'm sure they got alot of it cleaned up today being the worst of it was downtown. We went down first thing this morning, and since I was in a company truck (construction) we got in with no problems, but there were still places they wouldn't let us go.. I didn't take my camera as I didn't know we were going..
I got off lucky with no real damage, just a little clean up to do. It almost blew my french doors in (I couldn't hold them closed, believe me I tried) and got some water in the house. And it blew some stuff from behind the garage through the neighborhood, but all things considered, I got it pretty easy..
Luckily my AG order arrived today nice and safe! Thats the most important thing
. I'll be sure to put it to good use tomorrow :autowash:
Sorry for typing so much without really saying anything. But now I'm done :applause:
