We had some wicked weather yesterday.. Wow is all I can say..

Yesterday morning when I left for work, we were under a 'slight' risk for severe weather yesterday afternoon.. Thats normal around here, we always get some crazy weather.. Get home from work, look at the weather radar, and see some stuff developing.. Round 1 actually develops right over our town.. Nothing but a little rain and lightning here.. Round 2 develops to the southeast and is pretty strong when it hit here.. Tornado warning and funnel clouds spotted, but turned out to be just another strong thunderstorm.. 30 minutes after that one we get another storm of the same caliber, another seperate tornado warning, more funnel clouds spotted, but no touchdown (here at least).. Everybody thinks we're in the clear, but little did they know, the 'main event' was brewing to the south east and heading straight for us..

No clue how big it was, but I don't think it was anywhere near as big as the last one (F-3) that hit here in 2000 which hit about 1.5 miles from my house.. At least the width of the path of destruction. But this one hit a little closer to home. It hit literally about 300 -400yds (1/4 mile max) from my house.. Buildings blown down, roofs blown off, cars overturned, trees now sitting in houses, and powerlines down all over the place, and thats just in my neighborhood.. It headed straight from here through downtown Owensboro where it did a whole lot more damage.. Had this been a big one it could've been really REALLY bad..

I am going to try to get downtown here in a little while to take some pics, but they have it locked down pretty tight.. Plus I'm sure they got alot of it cleaned up today being the worst of it was downtown. We went down first thing this morning, and since I was in a company truck (construction) we got in with no problems, but there were still places they wouldn't let us go.. I didn't take my camera as I didn't know we were going..

I got off lucky with no real damage, just a little clean up to do. It almost blew my french doors in (I couldn't hold them closed, believe me I tried) and got some water in the house. And it blew some stuff from behind the garage through the neighborhood, but all things considered, I got it pretty easy..

Luckily my AG order arrived today nice and safe! Thats the most important thing :p. I'll be sure to put it to good use tomorrow :autowash:

Sorry for typing so much without really saying anything. But now I'm done :applause:

DantheMan where you from? Owensboro?????? I am in Beavercreek Ohio and I was watching the weather pretty closely late last night.

There were some twisters that touched down in Michigan as well...not close to me but still freaky..I think it's the 1st time in 6 years since we've had tornados touch..

Sadly, there were some deaths

Dan, glad you're safe.......tornadoes scare the bejesus out of me! Consider yourself lucky I guess. Glad all is well.

I am old enough to remember this one. Xenia is just the next town east of me.

I'm glad your ok and got off with little damage. A lot of people were not so lucky. The worst thing about a tornado is you have little warning if any. A least when a hurricane comes the weather people have already been talking about it for days.

yeah it was crazy

I live in mid michigan and most of us got hammered pretty hard. There was a house about ten miles from mine that was hit by a twister. The family was sleeping in their rooms and woke up in the basement and couldnt find their 15 month old son. They found him in his upside down crib with the mattress covering him and protecting him from the storm, And somehow in all the melee a computer cord was wrapped around his neck but didnt hurt him. As of yesterday he was fine and staying with his grandmother. It was a crazy thing, im only ten miles away and we got no wind, rain or anything and to think this was all going on down the road a ways.

Yes I'm from Owensboro.. I

Me too...

Pretty wild night.
We live south of town and weren't affected, but my buddies house got the roof taken off so we were up most of the night emptying out the upstairs and salvaging what we could.

You barely got missed there at your work as well.. I tried to go back down and get pictures, but apparently so did everyone else in town Friday, so I didn't bother.. Got a few of some of the smaller damage, but nothing of the really good stuff.. I did find a few online, but they don't really show everything..

As I suspected, it wasn't as big as the last one, but was confirmed to be an f-2. Just glad it wasn't bigger..
