Professional Ceramic Coating Problems and can I top it with a coating from AG?

I really can't answer the last question as the value add is so subjective; but I think your question was intended to be rhetorical.
Yes, don't think there's an answer.

Maybe the longest lasting coating isn't the *best* coating for a car you care about and is out in the world daily. Especially if you have a fondness for black cars.
That's where I am. In my environment a coating needs to be clayed, which likey mars it. And scratches accumulate regardless of claying. After a year or so most of us likely want to polish them out. The only non-destructive option I know of is Essence Plus.

Why not to a chemical decon?

I assumed anything that removes marring or scratches also removes the coating. Could certainly test it and see what happens.
Don't wanna confuse anyone here, I meant to chemical decon so you didn't have to induce the chance of marring but touching the paint with a clay towel.

Something like CarPro reset, or are you referring to something else? If so, it didn't make a significant difference in sheeting action the way claying did. But... I haven't tried multiple washes with Reset or a PW + Reset. Perhaps I need to try a few things before presuming clay is the only option to get sheeting performance restored.

I just meant to use an iron remover so you didn't have to touch a coated car to remove Contaminants.
