Hey all, just a 'weekend warrior' chiming in from N. FL.

Just polished up my car, this past weekend, and it's lookin' awesome. Read a lot of info. on the products I used, and for a first time PC user, I think I did alright. :)

Here's a pic., and my process, to start my intro. :)

Project:
1) Wash car, then clay.
2) Using Porter Cable (PC), use swirl remover/orange CCS Pad to remove spider webs and swirl marks.
3) Using PC, use glaze and white CCS pad to bring out the shine.
4) Using PC, use paint sealant and blue CCS pad, and let cure for 12 hours. Minimal product needed, at this stage, but even coats nonetheless.
5) Using PC and CCS blue pad, apply wax let sit for 20-30 mins (depending on product), and buff off as you go.
6) Go take some cool pics. of shiny car. :)

Nice...I've visited a couple of times, especially to go visit the butterfly exhibit. Pretty awesome place. :)

Thanks...appreciate the welcome, from all the folks. I'm no pro, but, that doesn't mean I don't like to keep my car clean...hehe. :)

Welcome to AGO! I read what you are doing and I am questioning number 3. You do not need to glaze after compounding. You will need to Polish with the White Pad. At least that is what I do. But again, welcome to AGO.

Thanks. Appreciate it.

I went with the instructions on the Wolfgang kit. I've used the leather care products, from WG, before, and so, figured I'd go with them again. Based on the kit: "Use Wolfgang Finishing Glaze 3.0 after Wolfgang Total Swirl Remover 3.0 to restore maximum gloss..." which is what I did, and then, finished up with the sealant. Once that cured, I applied a coat of wax, let sit, and removed...and everything looks better than when I picked up the car. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but, that's what I understood.

I won't be going through steps 1.5 (clay) - 3 all too often, maybe once a year (if that), but, maintenance will include wash/wax and possibly sealant every 4 months. Sun in FL burns through most products, pretty quickly, from previous experience.

Hi again. I will attempt to clear up the confusion. You technically did everything on perfect as intended. The source of confusion is this: Wolfgang Finishing Glaze is not a glaze, ut is a finishing polish. Essentially when you compound it leaves it own slight have which is further refind by a less aggressive product (finishing polish).

I know it has the name glaze in it, but it really a polish that could by their nature yield a similar but permanent appearance compared to a glaze (temporary). I suspect that may be the reason for the name of the product and a major frustration of mine. This more often with consumer brands; companies will in an effort to dumb things down for consumers will name and describe a product innacurately. This ultimately confuses the consumer more and makes it harder for professionals to educate them on detailing.

Gotcha. Well, after researching all 3 products, WG TSR, FG, and Sealant, I purchased the kit which worked out really well for me...especially as a beginner with a porter cable. I'd been using a different buffer for a long time, but, was not getting the results I wanted, so, I purchased the PC used for cheap, and got the kit and went to town!

It took a long while, to get everything done, but, in the end I was really happy with my results. I appreciate your insight...and am curious as to what a 'true' glaze is, for future reference?

Welcome from Tampa, Inthedeck!

Good point and explanation Rod.
