I swore it would never happen, but my (2016) WRX started to get stale. Yes it was an absolute BLAST to drive at 10/10ths, but as a daily driver / family vehicle, my patience was starting to wear thin. Much like a new girlfriend, the quirks that didn't bother me at first started to get on my nerves. Plus, the (solid red) paint was a nightmare to deal with. There was simply no joy in detailing it.

I was planning on picking up a new Civic Type-R once the dealerships dropped the ridiculous mark up ($10k in my area), but after seeing one in person for the first time at the Autogeek booth at SEMA, that plan quickly changed. The Type-R is simply too rambunctious looking for my style. I like to fly under the radar, and that simply isn't possible with a Type-R. Maybe I'm getting old.

Long story short, I paid a visit to my local Honda dealer the day after getting home from SEMA. They had a few Civic Si's in stock, but unfortunately none of them were SILVER. Shucks. So I packed a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and made my south to Delray Honda.

Two hours later, I was driving home in a new Civic Si, confident in my decision to unload the WRX. Someone else will enjoy it, especially with all the work I had done to it (stage 2).

Honda did a fantastic job with the new Si. It is light years ahead of my 2013 Si, which I swapped out for the WRX on my son's 8th birthday.

Within a week of taking delivery of the new Si, I had a Ktuner installed with a stage 1 tune. The car is a blast. :)

Nick what was the challenge with the red paint? The softness of it?

Congrats on the awesome, fun yet practical ride!

Congrats. The Civic Si should be a blast with the tune.

Congrats Nick!

Hi Allen. I respond to every PM/Email. If I did not respond, it's because I didn't receive the PM/Email OR because I'm dead. If you don't hear back from me, pick up the phone and give me a shout or look me up in the obituary. I always enjoy chatting with you. Im the MAN

Thanks Don. I was torn. The Si is just so smooth, comfortable, and it has that Honda magic. There's no doubt that I enjoyed the WRX. That car was driven hard and put away wet.

Cool. Looks nice.

Thanks Ron. Stage 1 Ktuner, good for about 40 hp and 80 torque at the wheels.

Hi Scott. The paint was very soft, not to mention extremely finicky. It would scratch and mar too easily. Lesson learned: don't buy a solid color Subaru that's made in Japan!

Very nice Nick, congratulations.
And I have to agree with you on the Type R. I've seen a few around Tampa and I'm partial to your Si. Clean and Speedy looking w/o being overstated.

nice car Nick. I think my next car will be silver as well, dark blues no more, at least that's what I tell myself...lol

Haven’t seen the Type R in person, but based on photos I agree. Si looks much more reserved and not so “Fast and Furious” looking.

My daughter upgraded her '13 Elantra manual for the same exact car Nick. She loves it. I do to - especially since I put some Opti Coat on it before anyone had a chance to mess it up. :-) Best of luck!!!

I've coated 2 with Mckees coat so far and yeah I feel the 2fast 2furious vibe

Nice Nick! Congrats! I like the new Civic's, Honda did a good job on them! And I see it's a 'proper' gearbox as well!

Congrats on the new ride, better as a DD for sure. Silver was a great color choice too. Keep us posted and thanks for all your advice and great products for us geeks.

Nick, congrats on the new ride...and mods already! I'm sure some new rims are in the very VERY near future though, right?!

245 hp and an extra 80 ft/lbs...holy s%&t! The Tail of the Dragon offer is still extended to you and a buddy!

Funny, same thing happened to me last June.

The black 2016 WRX was just kinda getting old...absolute hoot for 18 months, one of funnest cars I ever owned, but was getting tired of the somewhat 'raw' parts of daily driver use. Traded it on a black 2017 Accord V6 Coupe...much nicer overall transportation.

Sure don't miss all the nooks and crannies of the WRX bodywork though; was always a pain to blow all the water out of everywhere after washing.

Nice Si though; hopefully it wears better than the WRX...i like even our base Civic daily...nice package.
