Tried the Big Red Sponge today...

The Aqua sponge is on Ebay and Amazon, AG doesn't sell grout sponges so you have to go elsewhere, surely your a resourceful person, I'm sure of it.

Maybe you didn’t see my screenshot from Ebay. It’s not even on there...

Why can’t we just stick to stuff AG sells? I mean they have asked the forum members to please be considerate and they’ve been nice about it. The least we can do... And I’m not sayin I’m perfect and never mention random stuff, just sayin.

Look at what DB Cooper found on Ebay:

Tile, grout, oh yea and my clearcoat! Lol. Doesn’t exactly make the best 1st impression there Mr. Grout Sponge. Plus it looks like 1 of those lame sponges that are better suited for scrubbing toilets.

Have you tried Wheel Brightener yet? Lol

Listen....do you realize how many people have been using a grout sponge to do RW's, LOL. When I first joined AG it was the preferred method to do a RW. I used it on my Honda with ZERO issues, soft paint and all.

A simple search here will net you plenty of info, let me know how that went for yah

I’ll agree to try it if you agree to try either Wheel Brightener or 00 Steel Wool on all your vehicles glass. Take your pick. Lol.

Btw, I just realized how small all these sponges are. That’s kind of a turnoff. Mitts measure 9x9” these sponges are only 7x5”

I believe they have different sizes but they certainly aren't the dimension of say a wash mitt but are thicker. I'll get around to Megs wheel Brightener at some point but my car is washed 1-2 times a week and every single time the wheels are fully cleaned, meaning they don't get truly dirty and when they do, well, I have various HD wheel cleaners for that.

This thread has made me somewhat intrigued by this whole sponge thing and I’m considering maybe checking it out... But I just noticed that Lake Country has what looks like a similar sponge at a fraction of the cost. I’ve come to trust Lake Country as I’m sure most of you do as well, so I’m assuming the Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge is legit? According to the reviews it sure seems like it + its been available for years. Hidden gem?

The sweet price of $5.99 is enough to make me cross over the fence. Now yer talkin!

Lake Country Foam Car Wash Sponge, big blue wash sponge, lake country sponge, lake country grout sponge, car wash, shampoo

This is the one I use.

It's doesn't pick up a whole lot of dirt, but if you follow Yvan's method of "applying" ONR and wiping off, You're good.

I wipe off with my "rinseless wash" towels, and dry with a generic 16×24.

Sounds like Scott from Dallas Auto Detailing and Paint Correction. I say this because he just did 2 videos in a row about this produc

I watched his vid about the harbor freight paint sprayer...that was pretty interesting.

This summer i think i will try to use Yvan Lacroix' s method of using ONR, spray the wet panel with spray wax, use clay towel and then dry. You can do a whole car in about 30 mins doing that, pretty impressive.

I have been doing this and it's great with OCW.

After cleaning it though...right

That's how I do it. I save a lot of time, and I get a ton of compliments...and that's the formula I'm looking for :)

@Klasse Act. I was just kidding about the Wheel Brightener.

For first time BRS users, just remember if the vehicle is pretty dirty, your going to have to make a few passes over the area with a freshly squeezed out sponge. I used to use microfiber towels (GD method) and all of the constant folding of the towels would just slow me down, and quite frankly, make the process a big pain in the A$$. Then I used microfiber wash mitts, and I noticed the dirt wasn't being released from the mitts into the bucket that well...the mitts were holding on to the dirt. The nice thing about the BRS is the extreme ease of rinsing the dirt out of it...just one squeeze and your done. If you presoak with ONR and do one panel at a time (don't let it dry)...your not going to scratch anything with this method. This stuff is so slick, and the wet sponge just glides....do it gently and you won't have any problems.

If you check on Youtube you should be able to find the method in one or more videos from Optimum or Yvan directly.

So yes, you clean the pannel with ONR then, instead of drying it, you spray wax on it and proceed to decontaminate with their clay towel. Then you simply dry it off with a microfiber towel or waffle weave towel. The whole thing takes about 3 mins per pannel, so you can do a car pretty quickly. Only thing I would change from his method is use the Garry Dean method to clean, not the Big Red Sponge... especially if you are going to clay without drying first!

My FNW today will be performed with the Aqua sponge

Used a big box home improvement store grout sponge this morning with ONR. Worked as good as it did years and year ago. Probably what like 10 since the pro line grout sponges were the rage on the forums

I'm a bit surprised there is enough lubricationfor the towel w/ just the remnants of the ONR wash and a couple of spritz's of OCW
