Mustangs and Focus Active the only cars to be sold in North America.
 
Ford is dropping every car in their line up except for Mustang and Focus. I believe that's only the Fusion and Fiest that are being discontinued.

This would explain why the Fusion has been long in the tooth for a redesign. Taurus as well unless that is already gone.
This will also mean the new Lincoln Continental will be gone.
 
Seems all non-performance sedans are going the way of dodo these days.

Trucks, SUV's, Crossovers, even Jeep Wrangler offer 4 door, family friendly units now.

Makes sense, I guess.
 
Not surprised to see the Fiesta go, but surprised to see the Fusion disappear. It is a nicely built and engineered car, that also sells very well. It also offers great performance with the 2.0 liter turbo 4 and the 2.7 liter 325 bhp turbo 4. Oh well! Not happy to see the new Focus will be made in China. I can only imagine what the negative impact this will have on the American auto workers. More cars built in China, and less models being offered will likely translate into job losses. Hopefully Ford's expectation of increased SUV sales can offset that, assuming the SUV's will be built in America.

Fusion sales have tanked in the past few years compared to their competition.

Also, pretty sure the Fusion is assembled in Mexico. Be interesting to know what percentage of it's parts are made in the USA.

Look at 1/18 vs 1/17 that's a 33% drop!! That's huge. And a 21% drop overall 2017 vs 2016.

31% drop 2017 vs 2014, not a healthy trend.

Let's say the average selling cost of a Fusion is $20K x 97,237= $1,944,740,000.00 billion decline in sales in 4 years!!

look at the competition, basically they're not building cars people want. that's one thing about the automotive industry, it's very competitive...
 
The problem with cars is that they are not comfortable and not practical for families with infants. Back in the day, cars were a lot larger and car seats were a lot smaller so a 5 passenger car could actually fit 5 passengers. Cars not a days with the new massive car seats, the space is limited to 3 adults in most cars, even less if there are more than 1 child involved.

I drove cars all my life and when I first had my son I had a Cadillac ATS and his car seat didnt fit backwards without having the passenger seat all the way up, limiting its capacity to 2 adults. Then I bought a Hyundai Genesis 5.0, the car seat fit but the middle of the rear seat had a little hump which also limited the space to 3 adults. So I moved to the SUVs.

SUVs are extremely popular due to their size and practicality and, unfortunately, some automakers are slow to adapt to the new trends. Shoot even Lamborghini had an SUV now!

We have a fleet of Taurus and Fusions at work. It will be no big loss.

These cars can't come close to competing with the Hondas and Toyotas.
 
I'm really surprised the Focus is going away. From the sound of it it's going to be the Focus Active.... which is a hybrid or something?????

I'm obviously a Ford fan but stinks they are focusing on SUVs and trucks only. Guess I'm glad I bought my car when I did.
Who knows what I will be buying down the road!

Maybe it's a phase in the transition to electric vehicles. I'm sure they don't want to get caught with newly designed vehicles that could quickly become obsolete. Better to stay flexible in an automotive sector that is changing first/the most.
 
Evidence points to the continental going RWD and then getting suicide doors in a new model with design elements from the navigator and aviator
