What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The truck got a full paint correction with HD Cut and microfiber pads on my Griots GG6. Then it was followed up with HD Polish+ and white LC pads. It was finished with Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant applied with the Griots G3.
The first picture is the mess that was made by a new clay mitt. HD took care of that. I am pleased with the final results. Now we are ready for winter.

We're about to go into Stage 2 water restrictions, so I thought I'd give my FJ Cruiser a proper wash before they come into force. Picked up some Mothers CMX at 25% off yesterday. It was between the CMX and the Meguiars, and since the Meguiars has to be hosed off, and we can't use hoses under Stage 2 restrictions, CMX it was. Applied while it was still wet, and buffed off easy after that, very happy with the gloss, we'll see how the longevity goes over a Sydney summer.

Dave.

Just curious what clay mitt it was that caused the issue?

I rinseless washed the SS using Adam’s Rinseless Wash, WARM water and a bucket full of MF towels. I sprayed each panel first for a presoak. Wheels were cleaned with the same wash solution. After I took the pics I put Adam’s Tire Shine on the tires.

It was a brand new Blackfire clay mitt. I used it on glass first as per the directions but I guess that it did not remove the coating. Fortunately I only did the one panel with the mitt. I used clay on the rest of the truck.

I one bucket washed the wife’s Beast using Opti-Coat M-Wash, warm water and many wash mitts. I foamed the Beast first using my large iK sprayer. While the foam was doing its thing the wheels got cleaned with an old MF mitt and a boars hair brush. When they were dried later I applied Meguiar’s Fast Finish to the wheels and McKee’s SiO2 Tire Shine to the tires. I rinsed the Beast then refoamed and got to cleaning. I rinsed the Beast and noticed it sheeted water likes crazy. I happened to have left a bottle of CarPro Reload in the laundry room so I saved myself a trip to the basement and spritzed the finish with it as a drying aid.

BTW: ALL chemicals are now in the basement.

I did a much needed wash/therapy session this afternoon. Started with a pre-wash with Auto-Fanatic snow storm snow Foam, let dwell and rinsed off. I then used Auto-Fanatic foaming wheel cleaner on the tires and wheels and knocked that out. I then did a 2BM wash using Gyeon Essence with a couple squirts of AMMO NYC winter soap booster and cleaned the car. While wet I sprayed Griot's Garage Poly Gloss on the wet car and rinsed down, dried with the Master Blaster. Took the car on longish drive and once back I could see the salt dust on the bottom, oh well

Thanks for the reply, been debating on a new clay towel or mitt. Have always wondered if some of the pricey ones like speedmaster or blackfire are really worth the extra $.

Detail therapy today on the XR8 and Mustang gave me the opportunity to try some new items, these wheel brushes being able to get behind the Brembo brake calipers.

Washed my corvette
Then tested the new pxe80 on a few spots with menzerna sf4000
Then applied some Collinite 915 to several portions of the car

I forgot how much I like Collinite wax!
The pxe80 was so much fun to use too!

Had some free time after food and my car was too dirty for my liking. Also needed to get something on the wheels for the winter. Will be ordering Polish Angel supersport for winter but had to use what was on hand.

Did a bucket wash on wheels but to cold to finish out the rest so moved into garage and did a Ammo Frothe wash. Hit the wheels with some shine supply Clutch till I find a good sale to order up some goodies.

Will be ordering some McKee’s tire coating also but through on some Tac systems tire coating to get though the winter. Been procrastinating on protection round 2.

Looks great! Been looking into sonax PNS, my meguiars ultimate fast finish is running low.

Thanks.. It not the easiest product to work with...but it's worth it IMO ..I love how it darkens the paint and it's extremely durable...the price is right too!..
