My first returning customer.

This Outback was detailed by me a couple of months ago and needed some attention after a trek down a muddy track. The new Kranzle made short work of it and the application of Hydr02 last time really helped with maintenance today. I therefore gave it another coat of anticipation of next time.

The customer was delighted to see it all shiny again and looks like this will be a regular gig.

So with the equipment all out, it would have been rude of me to deny the Pony a wash.

I used EliXir as a drying aid.

Not smart of me to follow that beautiful red pony with my red car, but I gave my Z a foam bath with cg watermelon foam, dried with Gyeon silk towel and dressed the tires with Griots Satin tire coating.

JDGolden I’ve got a soft spot for for that gen Camaro/Firebird. In my opinion only bettered by the first 2 gens and its close between them all.

I love them all! What really got me hooked on them was my dads old 1981 Camaro. It had a 350 with dart heads, decent cam, and a TH400 with a converter and manual valve body. It was a pretty fast street car in the 90s. My first car was a red 1986 IROC-Z, 305 car with not much power. But I didn’t care. I had it for 9 years and sold it because it just needed too much work after awhile (190k miles, needed floor pans).

I found my current Camaro 4 years ago. While I had my IROC, I drooled all over the 98-02 Camaros on the dealer lots, couldn’t afford one though. Mine has 60,xxx miles on it and is almost the way I would have bought it new. I couldn’t find a 6 speed car that was clean and lower mileage in my budget. But I’m still very happy with it.

My uncle has a 1967 convertible that’s been restored. Also bright red. My FIL has a 2010 SS (orange) that he bought new. I plan to buy it if he ever sells it. Even if my red Z has to go, so be it. My wife and I drove away from our wedding ceremony in his car. It has sentimental value to me, and lots of it.

Major Camaro family here. :)

Awesome background story! I can definitely appreciate it as a car guy! I really like the styling of those 80’s Camaros as well. Actually most 80’s 90’s cars tend to look good in my eyes and are under appreciated I think. Though I’m sure sluggish performance and HP numbers play into that.

190k on an 80’s American car!? That’s gotta be some sort of achievement. Not surprised rust got to it, I grew up in the Midwest and in the import, mainly Honda scene. Unfortunately rust has had its way with so many cool(used loosely) cars in the area.

Yep, hard miles too. I bought it with a gutted interior, bumpers off, etc. I was under the car about to cut off the stock exhaustion favor of a new (used) exhaust when I started poking around the floors and the rear seat area was a bit soft. Didn’t cut the exhaust, and listed it for sale that week.

Btw I agree with you; I love the first two generations a lot.

As for 80s cars, I’m all about them as well. My holy grail is a Grand National.

I was lucky enough to own an 87' GN from 1995-2000

Nice! Curious, why did you get rid of it?
Well I was 29 and made the mature decision to get out if debt. A co-worker at the time flipped cars and I mentioned I was going to take the car to a consignment place and he pulled out a hundred bucks, handed it to me and said I'll give you 99 more tomorrow....done deal. I had my fun with the car, went on the Hot Rod Power Tour for a portion of it, made about 40 passes down the drag strip and enjoyed the car. It had all bolt ons, original engine and trans w/120K on the clock and ran a best of 12.6@109 mph w/1.91 60 ft time. It would've been faster had I had fresh valve springs and the correct converter for the turbo I was running, oh well

Nothing wrong with that. Sounds like you had a fair offer for that being 20 years ago.

Finally got to try out Bowden's Own After Glow after the Qashqai got caught out in some light rain. I've never used a drying aid before, if you don't count a couple of different wet waxes. I love it, works great. I'll have to test it on the FJ next wash. View attachment 69865

You sold it for $199?

I poured some distilled water onto my Mazda that's been sitting there for a bit for the new coating to finish curing. Knocked all the dust off it seems, we'll see what it looks like when I get home today. Waiting for a few other products to get here to do more testing.

Hi gang!
Sorry it's been a while... life is just weird!

Finally gave the Escape some love the other day... good wash and topped with WGDGPS. I will always love this stuff!

Also, I have a detail job tomorrow. Will post pics :xyxthumbs:
