What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I spent the day fixing the dealer's abuse. I have no idea what they wash these cars with, but good lord the clear was horrific. Nothing GG FCC cant fix. Topped it off with Infinity Wax Syngery Wax. Ehh it is ok. I'll most likely strip it and try something else.

I think I saw this same colored car in Houston yesterday, couldn’t tell the color of the interior but it looked great!

At least it was clean for 24 hours....as it sat in my garage!

I did know it was going to rain but wanted to see how the Wolfgang Spritz would self clean, I’ll find out when I get home later today.

Finally getting some fine weather, so I gave the FJ its first wash for a month, or maybe 2. I used the high pressure spray at the local car wash to remove the mud underneath, then drove home and used Bowden's Nanolicious wash and wax, very happy with how it cleaned, but the lubricity didn't feel great, I noticed after that it is marked as "summer wax wash" on the back. I did use it in warm water but it's winter here now, so the ambient temp is about 12C. I then dried using their "big sofie" with After Glow as a drying aid, my new favourite product. Makes drying so easy, and the surface feels so slick after you give it a light buff.

I will switch back to Meg's Gold Class for the next wash. View attachment 69991

Day Off Detailing!

The Ranger got a pretty thorough interior and exterior detail today, cleaning away three weeks worth of road grime and mud.

I can't have this, I just wouldn't sleep at night!!

Out with the gear for a therapy session.

The tray even got a scrubbing!

And because I am a complete nut job, the wheel center caps got some attention too.

Not pictured, the interior was cleared of mud, plastics treated with 303 and the glass cleaned.

All done. Almost a shame to put it too work tomorrow!

Wow, that much mud from 3 weeks. I can see how that would keep you up at night. When I was at the local spray wash removing the excess mud from my wheel arches, the guy was shovelling out the dirt trap under one of the wash bays, there must have been about 50 or 60 litres in the bin he was using. It's been very wet here recently, every dirt road is actually a mud road at the moment. Too much fun.

You’d die living where I do. I get more mud after 100’ of driving down the dirt road I live off if it had rained within 12 hours. But that ranger is the cleanest work truck I’ve ever seen. It’s ready for the operating room, that’s how sterile it looks lol.

And this vehicle is supposed to be my "beater"!

That's the theory, in reality, I just can't not have it as clean as the "good" cars.

An unexpected shower of rain on my way to work today undid all my good work!

How am I going to sleep tonight!

However, all is not lost. It means I have an excuse to wash it again! :awesome:

This was from last weekend, but my Explorer got a wash and quick wax.
I applied some paste wax to the wheels as well.
I hit the hood with a white pad and Ultimate polish just to see if I could make it any better.
I think I got some set in water spots out, but man that metallic silver paint is hard to see defects (swirls/scratches). That's good and bad.

I wasnt 100% happy with the results of my initial detail, so I decided to back with a GG polishing pad and apply Xtreme Solutions Foam Pad Polishing Glaze and it really brought the color to life. It brought out amazing gloss and life is good again.

I also tried Griots Garage Tire Shine. Holy Gloss Batman! It is glossy, perhaps too glossy for me, so I will be wiping it down before I drive it again.

Happy Father's Day to all of the Fathers!

Thought you might like this, picked it up today for my collection. View attachment 70003

Oh, and to keep it on topic, I cleaned my exterior glass using some home mixed glass cleaner, mixed about 10% washer additive with distilled water, seems to work better than the store bought stuff.

They are hitting stores now. Found 4 @ Target and 6 more @ Walmart. Only kept 3.

It's way too hot to do any detailing down here right now unless you have an air conditioned garage. And that temp doesn't begin to address the Florida humidity.

Not quite Florida bad, but it has been high 80's here with no break in sight. I have never seen lawns crispy in June as long as I have lived here on LI. (50 years). :(

I guess you haven't gotten the Saharan dust storm yet, it arrived in Houston this morning and should stick around for a day or two, I thought I saw the forecast to hit florida in the next day or two. Visibility in Houston is about 2-3 miles!

Did this to my wife's CX9....but only to the hood.
24/7 outdoor life is rough.
Only white pad and UP. I didnt want to get into a full detail.

Before. This was after a wash, clay and just some quick wax.

Have a friend driving from Ohio to California and back over two weeks so I Polished the front end and fenders and then wrapped it in blue tape for him. Its not a brand new van but newer and in really good shape. This should help.

Im OCD so i also treated the tape with some Optimum Optiseal so it sheds water. We gave it a good test and he just laughed.

I also hit the windshield with Griot's fine glass polish then coated it. Tested it out with a hose and he was amazed. Super smooth wipers and water just rolls off cleanly.

Griswalds are on thier way
