What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I would actually order High Gloss if I had a coating underneath… higher concentration of tio2. Cosmic has more Sio2.

I do Cosmic every 2-3 months would do the same with High Gloss.

I like SuperSport but will probably coat and top with SS. Use spray and rinse products in winter.

My next order will be 200ml high gloss, 200ml gold zirkon and 1000ml of presto detailer.

You're dangerous to have around. :)

Guilty of just looking up presto detailer now having missed it as an offering from PA. Wondering if that should have been added to my recent Rapidwaxx and Carnuaba Arts order.

Audi A5 -Navarra Blue Metallic

It had tons of “Audi defects” (super fine scratches), dull paint, water spots, and RIDS.

Washed with CarPro Descale, Polished with B&S URO-fiber and Carpro UltraCut, finished with Colonite 476s.

Looks great. Wow is that a dark blue. Would love to see direct full on sun shots.

Still have the E30? Those are reaching unicorn status!

Nah, I've since parted ways with both of them. I try not to think of what's happened with values and just think of it like Monopoly money like with houses (just looked recently, the estimate on the last house I sold has gone up a whole bunch since then... but so has the estimate for my current house). There's always a right time to sell something, you just never know when that time is and/or if it'll be convenient to wait for.

I got really lucky with that car. I bought it when they had a much less painful price of entry, put coilovers, a chip and some maintenance stuff in it, and drove the Wheels off it. Sold it 7ish years later for more than I paid for it, and I can say that I've owned what many argue is an iconic car.

What's probably sacrilege to say is that the E36 did literally everything better than the E30 (accelerate, brake, road hold, handling balance, etc), but the E30 was awesome because it was that very visceral/mechanical old school experience.

Not that it had any obvious looming issues when I sold it, but I'm totally OK that I parted ways with it. Just wasn't driving it, and while it's beautiful to look at there's no stopping the hands of time, and sooner or later old cars just need stuff.

The E36 was a similar story; got out of Auto crossing and track days, and with the race seats I just didn't like risking the wear and tear on them by daily driving it. Sold it to a woman who's been taking great care of it and tearing it up (lap time wise) on track. She mentioned hiring me to do a refresh detail on it, be fun to see it again.

I'll have to hit tapatalk and find some pictures of them to share.

Here’s the E30 when I owned it parked next to an OG M5 I was working on at the shop:

Day off and finally some nice weather!! Much needed wash/detail on the truck. Amen.

Washed the gf's car which was pretty filthy. Tried out the SPTA cordless foamer with 1 oz of hyper wash, pressure washed it off. Then a 2BM wash with Reset, followed by Griot's ceramic wash & coat since the LSP wasn't holding up on the bottom of the doors.

Got a late start to the FNL...They're back

I know the pics look weird but I took them at night time because my neighbor was trying to nail me down on doing her Lexus and we got to talking and talking....then the lady across tye street comes over to ask about the old lady that lives next door. By the time that all wrapped up I was finishing up and our light outside in the parking lot was all I had

So today's wash was OLD SCHOOL...TW RW using 2BM, the grout sponge and pre-treating each panel. This product absolutely needs to come back (are you listening Turtle Wax)?! Because it has some type of wax in it it leaves behind a nice Gloss, in addition to cleaning well, basically no need for a drying aid! I wiped down the jams w/the damp drying towel. Once I was done there it was time for the tires, wheels and wells.

Now usually I do the tires, wheels and wells first but I was so excited to get out there I just did the TW RW first. I started by doing a pre-treating of the wheelwells with Alien Kleen. I then grabbed the Brake Buster and got to foaming the wheels (spokes and barrels) and 303 Tire cleaner for the tires. All brushes were used and at this point it's dark outside, hopefully I got everything I rinsed them down and dried with designated plush mf towel. I'll probably add a light coat of something tomorrow but I'll say that the TWHS spray graphene tire coating held up great in the downpour we had, impressive product and I'm also thankful that these Michelins LIKE tire dressing

I finished with some CG's Black Frost in the interior

This thing looks like an Alien and I've gotta move that front plate! Probably going to get one of those retractable license plate holders and try and get away with it retracted. If I get pulled over I'll just say "I'm sorry, I just washed my car and forgot to put it back up"

Stupid arse front plate law. Before Covid a bill was trying to be passed here in Illinoyed, #1336 IIRC...pray that it passes

I'm having a hard time getting used to not seeing the purty blue, but new car looks sharp.

Yeah that color was awesome and it's the #1 complement I used to get about it On the way home from work today I came up to an intersection where I saw a teenage guy w/ purple hair on a skateboard see my car rolling by and I could read his lips...he said W O W️That was actually pretty cool and made my day

Yesterday your car was gray, today it's coffee with cream, what color you rocking tomorrow

You need to name her Chameleon

Parked a coat of wax too close to something, didn't even wipe the dirt off let alone mark the paint...

Big day for the FJ -

Wheels and tyres cleaned with Wheely Clean, really didn't make much difference to the tyres

2B wash with Carpro Reset

Clayed with Carpro Fine Green using Dodo Juice Born Slippy, only did a small section of the roof, nothing seemed to be stuck up there, and there wasn't much anywhere else either, the pic shows everything that came off the hood and front guards. Everything it's been protected with seems to have worked, also being higher up maybe.

Polished with my cordless Ryobi using Scholl S30+ on a Shinemate Black diamond Red finishing pad. Didn't do the roof, it seems in good condition. Took about an hour to do the rest of the car, still had 2.5 bars on a 5Ah battery when I was done, I wasn't using any significant pressure though.

Wiped down with Carpro Eraser after that.

And rest, tomorrow I'll apply a coating, and treat all the black trim. Tonight it gets to stay in the garage.
