What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I gave the Qashqai a rinseless wash with Ech2o, it wasn't very dirty, but it needed something. I cleaned the inside of the windscreen as well, I noticed finger smudges where the sunshade has been put up and down, it's getting warm here. I used Krystal Klear Bubble Gum Blitz on the Invisible Glass Reach Tool. I also went over the interior with TWHS Inside Job, I love the scent, and the finish.

While I was outside earlier my neighbour was cleaning the interior of her Skoda Kodiaq, they have two young boys, so you can imagine what she was finding in there. She was wiping down the interior with a damp MF, but was telling me her husband has said no Armour All allowed on the dash, it's too shiny, so I showed her some Inside Job, she's going to buy some today.

So it was 61 degrees when I got off of work so I had to hit the touch-free wash but on the way home I decided to take FULL advantage of the warm weather (supposed to dip into the 30's for a high next week) and apply "something" extra

Even though I applied DIY Detail Ceramic Gloss last week nothing wrong with "an extra blanket" and that additional coat was Nv Lustre. This product is SO EASY to apply. I used a mf applicator and 350 GSM Eagle edgeless to buff to perfection gloss

It supposed to rain tonight but at this point of the season if you can layer you DO IT

Two monthly customers and a headlight restoration

I coated both these vehicles new with Adams Graphene. They got their monthly wash and interior refresh.

I just spoke with a customer whose vehicle I coated in late June. As always, I invited her back to learn how to do a proper wash but life got hectic for her and she wasn’t’ able to find the time to bring her vehicle back. I did show her how to do a rinseless wash and she has all of the materials to do a proper rinseless wash but she informed me that she has not washed the SUV since I coated it. It’s been almost five months and I explicitly said multiple times that the coating will not last if it’s not washed regularly. Unfortunately, the people who need a coating the most are the ones that will maintain it the least.

Did you happen to wash her vehicle? If so, how was it?

And I know what you mean. It’s kinda hard with the coating customers because of the hype you can serve them regarding the coating at the time of application. It sort of works against what they should do because they’re still lead to believe they’ve got the most indestructible form of protection they’ve ever had. It’s like a catch 22.

Very nice garage you’ve got there. I envy that kind of setup.
I went 30 odd years working in my front yard with no shelter, weather dependant, so having a garage is a dream. Luckily both our vehicles have a similar footprint, so if I park either inside the markings I have enough room to move along either side on my detailing stool.

Many years ago I used to manage a warehouse, the company was fine with me using it on weekends for any detailing I needed to do, which was cool of them, but I then had to drive home and park outside again. The only issue I ever had was from one security guy, he thought I shouldn't be doing that inside the warehouse, I said let's go outside and look at the sign, when he walked outside I locked him out, told him to use his key to come back in, he didn't have one, so obviously he wasn't allowed inside then, ha ha.

I can only dream about some of the setups I see others have on here, in the end, we all work with what we have, and we make it work for us.

Awesome. Seems like a story I could listen to you tell for an hour the way you made that sound.

It was funny, for me, he was security for the building we shared, but not for my company, so he wasn't allowed inside. Important point, security guards over here don't carry guns, unless they're doing cash delivery. We don't even have armed guards in our banks.

Similar deal over here. Although there are certain gigs where there’s armed security in some places, but generally security guards aka rent a cops get no respect. Lol.

I was at the bank yesterday and the security guard was a fairly cute girl with no kind of gear whatsoever. I thought to myself what the hell is she going to do if guys come in here with guns and things get crazy? Lol.

And conversely, I was in the supermarket the other day, and there was a security guard who was packing, and I thought to myself "why do they need an armed guard looking over the self-checkout?" "Hands up, you're not putting an 'unexpected item in bagging area' on my watch!"

EDIT: Shoot, I missed my chance to end that with "but she took me back to her place, so it all worked out."

Today I did a really really bad Kia Sorrento interior detail. Mom who lets kids eat in the vehicle. Try not to gag.

Finished the paint correction this morning.

I usually put my towels in a plastic bag before putting them in a detailing bag. This is a bit of a pain though & I don't really see others do it, so I thoroughly vacuumed & cleaned my detailing bag and put some towels straight in. I'll shake out & inspect them before using and will see how it goes.

I also applied Lexol to some leather to once again see if it makes the leather softer, but I'm still unsure

bdubbs, not to pry, but is that your personal space? Or is that your work space? Is that an industrial building? I'm just asking because that's like a dream garage, was just wondering if it's at your house, your work, or if you lease it somewhere.

No worries.

It's our personal shop. We bought it a couple years ago. It's been my dream garage/shop for many years.

It's not at my house, but only about a mile away. We added the polyurea floor coating and a security system. Otherwise it's how it was when we bought it.

So was there a business in there originally? I don't think I'm ever going to be able to add anything like that at my house, so maybe I'll have to look for something like you have for sale/lease around me...someday.

The previous owner used it for some woodworking. I believe the shop was built in 2010.

I only have a single stall garage at the house and always wanted to put up a 3 stall. The wife likes our backyard too much, and I like leaving the house. Great compromise.

After a couple days the EN was lookin' a little "dingy" from Frost and general driving, so this morning my daughter and I took the EN to the touch-free wash. No pre-wash was really needed but I did use Brake Buster in the IK Foam Pro 9 before entering the wash

We came home and I used Griot's Garage Ceramic Speed Shine to top up the finish and as a drying aid, tires and wheels got it too

Now my EN is lookin' good while I get ready to watch the game before "THEE GAME" next week
