What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

The first RHD car I drove on the road was a MINI, a late 60's model and a 61' and I just got in and shifted with my left hand like using my right hand, your brain overrides all

A guy I worked with bought a late 60s mini, we went out to lunch in it one day, I'm only average height, but I'm very wide across at the shoulders, so was the guy that owned it, we looked very funny riding around in it, literally shoulder to shoulder, and wedged against the doors. He almost killed us as well when his foot slipped off the clutch and got stuck under the brake pedal, we made it round the corner anyway, those things really do handle. He told me later he normally took his work boots off to drive it, but his feet stank so he didn't. We almost crashed because of his stinky feet.

Another 90+ weekend in PA. So that entailed a 5:30 AM wash this morning. Beat that heat and sun! Finished with a bottle of Techron in the gas tank.

This heat is getting old quickly. Had to wash the car yesterday, too much going on in the morning to do it so ended up washing at 2pm, full sun, 90+ degrees. 2 hours of misery.

For me, it's like being mid winter. I'll wash when the temps are more reasonable.

Agree. There is NOTHING more miserable than washing in direct sun and heat! Even late evening is out because the sun sets right behind the driveway.

Shoulda thought of driveway/sun position when we bought the place 2 years ago…although “Driveway not good for washing” might have been a contentious reason for not buying a house she loved.

8am to 8pm full sun here now. Makes me miss previous home where very large trees shaded driveway nearly all day.

I made up a gallon of "FrankenDetailer" using Armor Detail Supply Hero, now I've got a gallon of that and a gallon of WGU-based "FrankenDetailer", I'll be gifting some to N Club members who deserve it, the others can just roll around in their filth

I get you 110%

The boss positioned the house for the best view and what winter sun there is hitting the main living areas

So summer means washing at 6:00 AM or 7:00 PM or wait for a cloudy day

I’m up at 6:00 AM but that’s my quiet coffee time and I’m generally tired by 7:00 since I do all the cooking and cleaning up

I’m lucky to get each car washed every week and sometimes it’s just a touch less tunnel wash or a rinseless in the garage

One of my regular maintenance clients brought me his gf’s newly purchased Audi Quatro. It’s in very good condition, near mint 1 owner vehicle from the Audi dealer.

People just don’t understand what’s *really* important

Beat the heat yesterday by waiting for it to start raining late in the afternoon and washing then. Washing in the rain was actually quite relaxing.

I also have to wash early to beat the sun. There is not much rain in the afternoon and if it does the humidity is high because of the heat and the rain. I will be heading out soon.

I may be able to wash early in the morning before the sun is up over the houses across the street but that's also not happening for me. Coffee first.

Usually for me, it's around 5:45-6 pm before the driveway is shaded enough for me. I've been tracking when my car is in the shade so I know when it'll be.

AUGHHHHHHHHHH

So I’ll begin by blaming MisterSnoop and BudgetPlan1 in advance for hexing my detailing day

It’s been cold, gray, and rainy here for close to a week and today was supposed to be cloudy and gray but dry so I planned a full maintenance wash on the big car because it is one of our 7 year cycle grasshopper years and it was a bloody yellow mess

I got everything staged

08754797364b27e63d550af388d2663a.jpg

I started with the newish IK Foam Pro 12 with BH AF and I pumped it up with my compressor. I was almost able to get all the way around the car on one charge of air and recharging it took 30 seconds

I’m not seeing the need for an onboard pump under my circumstances, at least for now

44e206453ebdf5192960e44c0dfdbae1.jpg

The INSTANT I got it covered the clouds broke and the sun came out like a Hollywood movie. I decided to let it dwell as long as I dared and got the foam cannon ready to go and hosed it down with foam, hoping the clouds would come back

66dfce03058fe80ca38ebf16dd38da46.jpg

I let that dwell and got it rinsed and the sun found another cloud so I decided to go for it and foamed it for a contact wash

Bad choice and no more photos because I was scrambling

The sun immediately came out and found a huge patch of blue and I knew I was done but I HAD TO get those bugs off

I had the boss come out and keep a spray of water constantly on the side facing the sun while I got a soapy mitt or two out of my Megs HW bucket and I went after the bugs

I finished that, grabbed the gun and rinsed the whole thing really really good

I got my 2 step ladders and my Ego and started blasting water off of it

I got it done and decided I wasn’t going to risk wiping it down with a topper

The INSTANT I got it back in the garage and everything put away the clouds rolled in I was back to cool gray

I said $&@? It and called it a day

Ha, this sort of happened in reverse for my last wash, I knew I was foaming in the sun, but it was the winter sun so I had some time, but I expedited anyway, and moved it back inside after rinsing to wipe down with Ech2o, and just as I finished, the clouds rolled in, no rain, but we didn't see any sun for the rest of the day. If I'd waited, I could have taken my time.

Mid-week clean-up...and new (to me) product review:

Armour Detail Supply-Hero RW

After a pretty bad storm Monday evening, tornado sirens and everything, plus not washing it the day after, the EN was waaaay overdue for a wash, the self cleaning properties are still doing their thing though

So for today's wash I decided on a full tire & wheel cleaning, plus re-apply TW Mr. Cartoon Tire Coat. A RW was dialed up this evening and today was the day...Armour Detail Supply Hero...let's see if this stuff wears a cape or not

I started with the tires & wheels, Brake Buster and the new/old Quattro team did their thing to get my hoops looking their best! Once done there it was time for the RW

I've heard soooo much about Hero, it came on-board around the time Gyeon ECO wash RW came up and it seemed to take away the spot light from my current favorite a bit, so I was already peeved a bit

I added 2 oz to 3.5 gallons, grabbed my IK sprayer and got to it. I used the 2BM and my one RW sponge for wash media. I did a section at a time and I'll say this Hero smells AWESOME, besides the color it's what you notice first. I moved around the EN pretty easily, so I appreciated that. I'll say that at first it didn't dry as easily as ECO wash but as the towels got some dampness to them it was fine. The gloss is there, as well as the slickness, so ofcoarse I appreciated that

My conclusion...gotta use it some more because Gyeon ECO wash RW blew me away from the jump, this product from ASD, Hero, reminds me of Idrosave right now and that's not a bad thing but I guess I'll need to use it some more and see what's what...stay "tuned"

The Cruze was D I R T Y

For this wash I went full pre-wash and 2BM, plus drying aid...let's go

I started with the tires & wheels, my God, is my g/f off-roading this car! I used Gyeon Tire to clean her Conti's and Griot's Garage wheel cleaner for the rims, plus "Team Quatrro" of hoop cleaning tools...came out nice

For the 2BM I used a single Griot's Garage carwash pod, should've used 2 pods as I like suds, even though I used Bilt-Hamber Touchless for the pre-wash in my Griot's Garage foam gun

I finished with "FrankenDetailer" as a drying aid (WGU base version) and it was truely a pleasure using an old school, home made drying aid! This as you know, or may not know/remember has KSG infused in it, so legit protection IS present

Now I didn't dress the tires because it will be run through the touch-free tomorrow evening, at that point I'll be applying TW Mr. Cartoon Tire Coat, stay "tuned" for those pics. As you can clearly see there's not much there but there's "a little" and I'm not sure the last time I applied it, so I'm pretty happy with this "sleeper" Tire Coating from TW

I bought a new house 2 months ago, and got lucky in that the garage (near exterior door) there was some plumbing that I could build off of, and an electrical outlet nearby.

I got a cheap PW (I just care about getting decent GPM at 900-1000psi), a nice pf22.2 cannon, a really trick Waterdrop spotless kit with a super trick bypass valve (just to do a final rinse). I went with cheap, but quality yamatic swivel gun and 50ft super flexible hose. Got a great deal on a hose reel ($50) which can often run up to over $200 lol. Nothing super fancy, but just what I need to maintain the cars the way I want.

I'm using 3.5 gpm orifices on my 25 & 40 degree tips for good GPM for rinsing, but of course, using the 1.1 orifice on the pf22.2.

It's working fantastically!

I begged our builder to put plumbing in a corner wall by either garage door but they absolutely would not put plumbing on an exterior wall

I guess for my location that makes sense
