My new car: 2002 Cadillac DTS

Hey, if you like it, not my style with that top and tires....looks like it's got built in Raiders fan going on too.

Lol. Nah more like classy tuxedo style. Can you imagine with white leather interior? Don’t get no tighter than that. Your date would have to remove her shoes in order to ride in a car that clean. Lol

Ehh... So popular. It’s gotten ordinary. I’ve never like the way those wheels & tires look on that car. Too thin. The stainless steel roof is great though... my 82’ Biarritz had a stainless steel roof to commemorate the 50yr. anniversary of that car.

Have you seen Mike Stantons video of his black 1960 Coupe Deville? Now that is something special.

No, but what about the Copper Caddy from Kindig-It?

I like black Town Cars with white roofs. More of my "old man tastes" LOL

I like the 96 Fleetwood Brougham in jet black if it came with white leather interior it would make it perfect. Xtra Large. Presidential class and unmatched room and comfort.

Eldo, I'm about to make your day, may I present to you....the Copper Caddy! I'm going ALL IN on this one!!

This guy is very emotional over this car, although it doesn't appear in this video but your could find if you wanted to and I even got choked up a bit watching it because I can only imagine what its like to see your dream come true, I can only do just that, DREAM!

Yea it’s funny how that thread worked out eh? Lol. I honestly think that thread and the fact that I was quik to say I hate this sort of color had something to do with me ending up with this car less than a week later.

As far as the interior, oh yea it’s finally up to par and I owe alot of it to the generic magic erasers that I’ve found at the 99 cent store. They’re great because they’re a tad milder than the OG but that makes them perfect for interior vinyl and even some leather if you’re careful. They knocked out some serious grime in here.

Thanks.
As far as the headlights, are you referring to this?

If so, you won’t be able to peel it off. It looks like you would, but you can’t... You’ll need to remove that in order to properly restore your headlights. I’ll post the link to the 3M Headlight Kit that I use and recommend because it’s easy + effective + you don’t even need any tools not even a drill.

3M Headlight Restoration Kit, headlight scratch remover, plastic restoration kit

And yes, you’ll need to stay on top of them afterwards so they don’t get hazed again. McKee’s makes a new Headlight Coating that they say lasts 3yrs.

yea that's it. I'll take a look at your link. mine is peeling like that but the rest of the lens is not cloudy. I'll try and take a pick tomorrow. thanks

Damn fine job on the new Caddy, bro!!

You're just killing it out there, my man. :dblthumb2:

Thanks bro I appreciate it.

1 last thing I did to the car.. And I don’t normally do things like this but looking at things from the passengers side I felt like there was alot of space doing a whole lot of nothing.

So I bought a couple of these badges.

And I decided to put 1 there.

I also gave the air conditioning vents chrome tips because I didn’t like the look of the original finish they gave them. It’s not so bland now, but at the same time it remains just a subtle change. I like it.

Helluva turnaround, nice work

You are officially the “old” young guy of this forum.

Nice kid! What a job you did on the car. The rims look new. I really like the griots correction cremes. Did u change the pillars yourself? I want to do mine but don't want to screw it up.

Yea I did it myself. It’s not too crazy but if you’re like me you tend to make things like this extra tedious.. For me removing the backing sticker on the new panels was the only minor obstacle as they made it come off in 2 pieces, which was kind of annoying, but it’s pretty easy. My only tip is to line it up and make your plan of how you’re going to apply them, because once any part of the strip touches there’s no turning back because it’s strong, and because it’s strong you can just feel like it’ll compromise the adhesive if you were to try and correct it by trying to pull it up and do it over... You can’t even push it slightly once you lay a portion of it.

You thinking about going glossy or chrome?

If you go with the black glossy, get the ones that say they’re black acrylic. There’s some other ones that say they’re some kind of poly plastic/piano black, but you can tell those are the older gen.

@Setec Astronomy. I found this pic showing how those pillars apply. This is basically what mine looked like before/after.

Sorry, I just saw this now--so they basically had that vinyl wrap kind of stuff on the pillars before?

I can tell you guys are AGO'ers because if you were Autopians you'd know Bill's car...or maybe I am just dating myself.

Yea, I’ve never seen it. I was anticipating his post but I guess he didn’t get around to it.

Yea that’s pretty much how they came from the factory. A matte black vinyl wrap. It was chipping and peeling in some areas and I tried to remove it with a plastic chisel, but it was impossible to remove more than little tiny pieces at a time. Luckily these new ones applied right over them no problem.

It's probably been 10 years since Bill posted a picture of that car...when they were loading it on the trailer when he moved to FL.

I didn't realize GM was doing that wrap on Caddy's...at least not in 2002.
