help, do I need a mini DA really?%%%%

I always like to try different detailing related stuff out. I HAD one (Adam's SK mini). The front grip protruded way too much and you couldn't get into tight spots. I still have these 3 though.

How is the harbor freight with 3” with vibration?

Same here on the PC with the 3" pads.

There are parts of the Ram, and more importantly the wife's Wrangler where it is a Godsend.

That being said, there are also many little spots where I know a 1" would work.

But like you stated, the expense for a hobbyist isn't there IMO.

If you are detailing as a hobby, I would consider this one of the least expensive compared to some.

Like racing, boating, flying, photography and many others.

It's not bad at all. Having more polishers than I need, including Rupes MKII 15mm, Griot's Boss G15, Flex 3401, Makita PO5000C, Rupes Duetto and Mini, Flex PE8, Flex XFE7-80, 2nd and 3rd Gen Griot's GG6, etc......I've always wanted to try the Harbor Freight as an experiment.

Here's the catch. I remember when Griot's announced their 3" special backing plate for their GG6. I couldn't wait to get one, however, when I got it and put it on the GG6, I instantly HATED it. The shroud is too large and dwarfs the 3" backing plate. I like the HF because the silver shroud is just slightly larger than 3" whereas the GG6 shroud is significantly larger than the 3" backing plate.

One of the biggest reasons I stayed with the Porter Cable was because of that shroud size. I could use anywhere from 6" to 3" pads comfortably on that tool.

I love my flex mini especially with the 4" Rupes pads. Money well spent for a tool that should last me a lifetime.

My man! Do you feel that there's a big difference between the Griots G15 and the Rupes MKII 15mm?

I have a G15 but I don't like it. I want to upgrade to the MKIII 15mm if the difference is worth it? Could you help me out?

To me, the Griot's feels very nice and I like the extra rubber areas for grip. Psychologically, I feel like the Rupes is a better tool......I'm not saying it is though. I do run both with a washer mod. If you don't like the G15.....I cannot see you liking the MKII because they are very similar.

I ordered the SK MINI yesterday and can't wait! Only other polisher I own is the Harbor Freight. Great to have such a great group to learn from and share. AG rocks!

Ive been considering the Adams mini as well. They also make a 15MM that looks nice for the price as well. I could buy 2 Adams polishers for the price of one GG 15MM. For a hobbyist im really considering saving the money, most reviews speak highly of the Adams polishers. Rupes would be nice, just hard to justify the expense for using a polisher less than half dozen times a year. But...… the nano long neck would be great for the small spots as there really isn't another like product out there.

I posted in this thread back in March, and my thoughts really haven’t changed at all. If anything as I’ve used an 8mm throw machine more and more, the urge to buy a forced rotation unit (flex or mille) and just have a nano has gotten even stronger. I wish GG would release an ibrid equivalent (or someone would.)

Using a porter cable with a 3” plate feels really bad, and very cumbersome.

There’s just too many areas where it’s a nuisance to try and keep pad rotation on even modest body lines like my Altima has.

Maybe it’s just my obsessive nature. But there’s a ton of areas on my car I cant polish thoroughly with a machine, and doing it by hand just doesn’t feel sufficient.
