How did u find out it was OK to use the wheel cleaner on paint? Any confirmation from meguiars or did you just assume they are the same thing?
I think whether or not they’re the exact same is pretty irrelevant. I know people hinge a lot on whether a manufacturer gives you the green light, but as far as I’m concerned: if something is safe for my painted wheels, it’s absolutely safe for the body of my car. Paint is paint.
Watching the OG meguiars series, meguiars pretty much talked about the viscosity being different, and that their pro line iron decon product doesn’t just attack iron, but also other things.
Imo neither of those things matter for someone who’s an enthusiast. Our cars aren’t going to be trashed, and even if they are initially I don’t think it justifies paying several times more for essentially the same end result. But everyone is different, and that stuff matters to some people. My dash has been dirty for years because I’m waiting for a dedicated dashboard cleaner to come out. Don’t even get me started on how dirty my seat belt buckle is. But I can’t use my seat belt cleaner on it

Whether it’s iron decon, tar remover, clay, or finally polishing, the paint will end up in a place where it’s very clean.
