More than likely the last Show-N-Shine. They say if you're going to go out, go out big. For my money... This is big!
I watched this car while it was in transit from Michigan to San Tan Ford in Gilbert AZ. I was dead set on this particular GT CA Special. The CA Special is a timeless edition to the stable of Ford. During 1964 1/2 - 1967, Californians made up 20% of all Mustang sales! To honor them and the dealerships, Ford released a CA special that was a little Shelby inspired.
1968 was the first CA Special and wasn't seen again until 2009. While the 68 version could get you a big block and extra ponies, today's versions gets you more of an appearance package on both the interior and the exterior. The interior features alcantara seat inserts, and door inserts with red stitching everywhere, along with embossed GT/CS on the seats. Outside brandishes 19" wheels (made special for the CA), the note worthy stripe, side vents, a unique spoiler & grill.
Now onto the stats:
Exterior: Due to some physical stuff going on, and being busy at work, this detail took the better part of almost two weeks. Working panel by panel and step by step over multiple days.
Engine: Wolgang Total Engine Cleaner, Mothers Brushes ---> CarPro DLUX on all plastics / Bead Maker on all metal
Wheels: Griot's Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner, Wheel Woolies ----> GTechniq EXO on Wheels and barrels
Tires: Megs D143 and Mothers Tire Brush ---> Blackfire AIO Tire & Trim Protectant
McKee's Iron Remover
CarPro Rest Mixed with Megs Hyper Wash , Foam Bath, 2bm w/ Chenille Wash mitts
Clay --> Pinnacle Fine Poly Clay & Megs D114 for clay lube
3m Automotive Tape for taping off trim
1 step Correction: I think they took it through a car-wash, so the sides had some dealer installed swirls and scratches, where as the roof/hood/trunk seemed fine:
Rupes MKII / Rupes Green Pads (6) and Pinnacle Advanced Compound for Hood, Trunk & Roof
Rupes MKII / BOSS MF pads (6) / BOSS Fast Correcting Cream for Fenders, Doors and Quarter Panels
PC 7424XP w/ 4" LC CSC Orange Pads / BOSS Fast Correcting Cream ---> tight areas.
CarPro Erasure - Wipe Down
CarPro CQUK 3.0 on all sheet metal ---> TWO COATS!!!
CarPro DLUX on all trim and plastics, engine, cowl, etc..
GTechniq EXO on the black piano grill and rear black piano deck-lid panel.
Pinnacle Exhaust Tip Cleaner / Lake Country Exhaust Tip Scrubbers
CarPro DLUX on Exhaust Tips
Pinnacle Glass Cleaner w/ Water Repellant on all glass
Interior: I have not done anything with the interior yet, I just need some time to do that... but I plan on:
Clean my Weather Tech liners (for what good that will do in AZ...)
Metro Vac-N Blow...
Sonax Alcantara for inserts and seat inserts
McKeey's Fast Interior Cleaner for everything else
CarPro Leather Coating for the Leather
CarPro Fabrics Protection for everything else
Me and my sales guy John after the purchase:
The after glamor shots
