I recently detailed this 2008 Sienna and thought I’d share a quick tip/suggestion.

I used a pressure washer on a lower setting with a 25 degree tip. APC was Britemax Grime Out at 9:1. Various brushes and pressure wash rinse. Dried with electric leaf blower.

I normally don’t care for much dressing on engine bays. But this one needed some darkening of the black rubber and other various plastics. I used Meguiar’s Hyper dressing at 3:1 or 4:1.

My epiphany came when it was time to dry the hyper I dressing. Instead of letting the dressing air dry, I forced the issue and immediately dried it with the leaf blower. Not really an earth shattering tip, but the immediate drying of the Hyper dressing really came out fantastic looking.

I didn’t time myself, but I’d estimate 20-25 minutes start to completely dry.

Sorry for the crumby photos, didn’t really take much time photographing.

Really nice.

I think I remember someone else (Eldo, Mike Phillips, ???) saying they had good results blowing a dressing on an engine detail to dry. It looks like the way to go.

I need to get some Hyper Dressing. It's the Megs Detailer product that I meant to try, but never did. I just have too many products I bought to try on exterior trim that didn't make the cut, that I can use for engines.

this can apply to tire dressings as well (blow dressing out of the tread to help avoid sling). before (and even after if you desire) you wash your car, rinse the driveway down (around the car) so there isn't any dirt floating around when using a leaf blower to dry the tires...

I probably read one of Mike’s threads on engine detailing and the drying tip was just sitting there waiting to be used. Hyper dressing is very nice. I also like Carpro’s PERL. Hyper dressing is just so affordable.

I too use HD at 4:1 on engines but have not tried to blow it dry after. I will have to give it a shot next time.

Great tip !!! The forced air blows the Hyper Dressing into all of those hard to reach areas. I need to do this more :)

I have a product like the HD that you can spray on a wet surface and let it dry on it's own. Will test it out with a leafblower to dry it. Thought it would need to be haveing the warmer air to dry it with something like the Sidekick. But this looks great so will do a mental note on this LOL. Really have to do some engine compartment cleaning on the 2 cars I maintain.

Thanks for the tips!

/ Tony
