It never seizes to amaze me how lousy a dealership can prep a new car. Funny story, the dealership this was bought from denied me a couple of weeks back to do their higher end stuff. I ended up correcting their work anyways. For as long as they are clueless, I will have these types of jobs.

Test Spot

It took me over an hour to figure the test spot. But it’s like measure twice, cut once. The paint was polishable 6 out of 10—10 being difficult. The winning combination was RUPES Coarse wool pad + Zephir finished with RUPES Yellow Foam + Keramik

Coating

There is a reason why I adore Opti-Coat. But in this case, I was brought in to install a competitor brand and absolutely don’t like it. It went easy at first, but my brain hurt after it was all done because it required so much focus. Please don’t ask me because I don’t want to revisit this part of things.

DIAL IN YOUR TEST SPOT!

Before buffing out the entire car. It will save you a TON of time.

I’m a purest personally. At first I was like, “Oh cool!” But at the end of the day, I like all things gloss.

Very nice, you saved it ! I have a 2018 6 speed stick Cayman S GTsilver metallic (20 inch Carrera wheels)so it hides mistakes easily. Once I picked it up I hit with some lights and actually not to bad.. did some polishing is all it needed. Duragloss and done

There is definitely something to be said about great abrasive technology and I think that RUPES hit a home run with theirs. I know what to expect each time (in general) which makes dialing in the test spot easier despite how painful it gets sometimes.

All in all, when I discovered that their products performed to my expectations, it’s hard to go with anything else. I have gotten very proficient with their system. Plus it keeps cost down because I don’t need to buy everything else on the market.

Ps:

I think that Zephir + RUPES Blue Foam is awesome!

WOW what a difference in the clarity between the hood pictures! Awesome work and write up and pictures Dan!

Hehe hope that the owner gives some great spread of the words to other Porsche owners around where you live. Then the dealership will be sorry for blowing you off LOL. Put some before and after pictures together and spread them out and people will see the instant difference between them. Amazing depth you got from the polishing work.
