Hi all,

At the suggestion this thread:

Jeep Hard Top Coating?

I started cronicling how long Carpro Dlux will protect my new Jeep Hard Top.

Coat Date: 11/5/2020
Region: NYC Suburb

11/11/2020 First Rain. Photos of water action on both left and right rear, which I think will be conclusive on seeing how long this will last:

If anyone wants other shots, or more information, just let me know. Don't know how to get a better photo attached; hope these are sufficient.

Very nice work, Eric.

I just might give this a shot on the wife's Wrangler hard top.............:props:

Your 1 year ahead of yourself!!

I sure hope so! My wife's 92 Wrangler hard top really started fading to a dull grey.

Of course, it only did that prior to me marrying her ;)

LOL!! I meant the year is 2020 and not 2021 yet.

Crap...didn't notice. lol. Fixed.

"I got a good negative 6 months protection from the stuff"

What is a good negative protection? Does that mean it was good for 6 months?

I meant a joke by having the six month photos dated correctly, so everyone would do the math and see that I had it on for NEGATIVE six months.
I see how my sentence could be read wrong, though.

Update:

11/23/2020 (hah, remembered this time).

Rained last night. I had QD'd the top about 6 days ago, with Mckee's N-914 (like this on my coated cars, since there are no added toppers). Also don't know whether I can mention that brand, because it doesn't seem to be sold by AG anymore, although it was when I bought it.

Anyway...same shots, with an additional 3rd shot up the middle, where the rain seemed to pool more:

Update

Jeep has gone through 1 major snowstorm (here in Greater NYC), and I grabbed these shots after the rain yesterday.

It was Waterless washed about 1 week ago, and 2 rinseless washed prior to that (N-914 at the usual ratios).

It seems as if the top itself is fairing better than the bumpers; the photos will show what I mean, I think.

Yes, the bird bomb has been removed ;)

Could just be contaminated. A rinseless wash is good but a contact wash still does a better job. You could always reapply another coat at anytime.

Understood...a little cold for the full wash yet, but will do so, and post results.

Reapplying a coat will make sense; just trying to see how long before that is needed.

All...I must apologize for not keeping this thread updated as I had promised. Just after my last post, lost my job, Covid kicked in, etc. etc.

If anyone is still interested, the DLux kept the top well protected until November, 2021. Just about a year. Well worth it, since I had plenty left over to reapply.
