This is my Father in Laws truck, and he asked for a detail for Christmas. I finally got around to it.

Disclaimer: This truck sees job sites. My FIL draws and builds custom homes. This includes my house, where my wife, FIL and I worked hard for 6 months to get it done. Tools are constantly in and out of the bed and rear floor area. This truck is not a reflection of how he keeps his house. It’s just another tool for him.

I forgot to take a picture of the full exterior before I started, but imagine a truck with dirt, water spots, and not a whole lot of gloss.

Products:
3D pink soap
Blackfire Iron Remover
Meguiars d143 for wheels and tires
Meguiars Clay
ONR
Lake Country Hydrotech polishing pads
Meguiars G100v2 DA
3D HD Speed
Finish Kare 1000P
Cobra edgeless polishing microfiber towels
Invisible glass
Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer
Duragloss 253 for the tires
303 protectant for bumper trim and step bars

Some random before shots:

I got to work cleaning wheels, tires, wheel wells, inside the bed and the undercarriage. I flip my surface washer upside down and put it on a rolling tool caddy to blast the underside. Works really well.

Washed one side of the truck at a time after Blackfire iron remover.

Dried it and clayed, some panels up to 3 times. This was after one bed side:

I washed it again after clay and began with HD Speed on Lake Country Hydrotech polishing pads. This provided the cleanup that I was looking for. Not shooting for 100% correction here, but rather water spot removal and gloss enhancement.

I then hand applied Finish Kare 1000P as my LSP of choice. I’ve used this Speed/FK combo before and like it.

As for the interior, lots of vacuuming, invisible glass on windows, and Meguiars Quick Interior Detailer for final hard surface cleaning.

And after 3-6 inches of rain over a 24 hour period, here are a couple of finished exterior shots.

He was thrilled with how it turned out. And I’m spent. I have their Honda Pilot on the books before winter hits, but it’s not a construction site vehicle thankfully.

Thank you all! Not sure which he was most excited about, the interior or exterior. He did mention the paint looks new and no longer “dingy”. Hats off to Ford for that Ruby Red paint, it really shines with a little work. Gorgeous color.

Awesome work!

What kind of pressure washer contraption is that? Lol

Sometimes vehicles like this are the most rewarding... The before and after conditions are dramatic and unquestionable.

The only problem is that once it gets back to its regular life, the "after" condition won't last long.

I don’t have an undercarriage sprayer so I used my surface washer attachment and flipped it upside down on a tool caddy. It was very effective.

Very true. I plan to do a quick cleanup, wash and top the paint soon.

Nice save! I have a very similar F150 and we take it down muddy dirt roads with kayaks and fishing gear loaded in the bed.
It can take a good 4 hours to clean up after a day on the trail (almost every weekend)
Coated with WG Profi ceramic ( what a beast to ceramic coat, holding up well).

Very nice! Looks like it matches your boat.

Very nice and so is that well manicured lawn.
