Tire Dressing

My favorite so far is Chemical Guys VRP. Walmart actually carries it now if you need it in a hurry and it’s super easy to apply with a foam applicator and does not sling. Currently, I use Megs Endurance tire gel only because I can get it really cheap and I’m trying to use it up. Much more difficult to apply compared to VRP and you do have to give it a good wipe down because it will sling.

Agreed on VRP. My go to.

VRP has done nothing but go prematurely dull on me when dry (few days) and washes easily away in the slightest rain. Not my favorite dressing. Maybe it’s the tires I’m applying it to.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Hybrid Solutions in this thread. It received a lot of attention and props in another thread on this forum a month or so ago.

Hybrid Solutions Graphene Acrylic Tire Shine Spray Coating

This stuff is great, I have 800 miles on my month old application, it’s gone through two huge rain storms, and it still looks deep, rich and just a hint of gloss, it’s my go to dressing now…

The Guz just showed a makeup brush that is smaller than I thought but actually looks big enough to be good on low-profile tires because a normal flag tipped brush is definitely too big. I just got the makeup brushes in yesterday and I haven't had a chance to use it yet but it looks like it will be good for applying tire dressings. I bought multiple so I can have one with each product as I use DG 253 as well as Gyeon Tire Express sometimes. Along with tire coatings but haven't applied that in a while.

Is this the best tire dressing applicator? - YouTube

Thanks for posting this. It actually works out pretty well. I can see why people enjoy using it. I am trying to get my hands on the carscope version but they don't ship to the states. They are supposedly getting ready to sell to the states. I need a hook up in the UK lol.

Works well with water based tire dressing and gel tire dressings.

I just used the little brush today. I couldn’t find my bottle of Duragloss 253 since I took it over to my friends so I used Megs #40. Liked the brush but not so much the #40 on tires. The brush is almost 2” in diameter so works well on tires. It is a very dense brush so it flexed well but was plenty stiff, it seemed just right. Worked well to ensure all the tiny lettering was covered. It was also easy to get the tire lip around the rim. The larger flagged-tipped brush is definitely faster but this little brush wasn’t slow and definitely had more control and accuracy. For car tires, especially low-profile tires, I will definitely be using the makeup brush but for truck tires, I will still use the flagged tipped brush. Now to go find my bottle of 253.

Here is a closeup of the brush upside down in its holder.

Well you know us, you say Apple, I say Orange. :)

Applying with that small tire brush, it just didn't apply evenly and I saw some streaking. Part of that might be the cleaning aspects of #40 whereas something like 253 just goes on as a dressing. But really it was just the evenness of application that I didn't care for. But I really hadn't used it before on tires but I know Mike Phillips liked it for tires. I'm not sure I'll try it again as I also like a little bolder look, not glossy, but not matte. #40 seems to give a dressed but more natural look, which I know there are many that like that look.

Looking to do some shopping this labor day weekend.

Have been using the Adams Tire shine in the white bottle, it's nice and Matte, but doesn't last long at all. I was going to try Car Pro PERL, but don't see it on AG's store. :(

Anything else people can recommend that has a nice, matte finish that can last longer?

Edit: And how about a reco' for a dedicated tire cleaner? I've used a high alkalaline degreaser (diluted 1:3), but not happy with the results. Now willing to try a dedicated tire cleaner....

There are other places that sell carpro perl though. Megs m40 might fit the bill

You could also look at TWHSGATSSC as it is pretty matte and seems to last several weeks.

Turtle Wax also has a matching tire cleaner but not as familiar with it. Tuf Shine Tire Cleaner is one of the best. 303 Tire & Rubber also gets nice reviews. And I know at least one AGO member likes LA Totally Awesome, which can be bought from a dollar store.
