As an example take San Francisco, famous for the fog that hovers over the city for most of the year. And yet, San Francisco is a top-five city for solar as a result of its high cost of energy and a generally warm climate that yields soft but consistent sunlight all year long. This example helps to illustrate why sunlight alone cannot determine how effective solar will be at generating energy savings.

In some cases, clouds can actually result in better panel performance than standard sunny weather. A cloud can reflect or sometimes even magnify sunlight, which results in additional power output from your solar panels.

Just a little food for thought if one is using California as an example... You can draw your own conclusion.

Back to your regularly scheduled program.... LOL

I have issues with government picking and choosing winners and loosers. EV would not be a topic of conversation without fundings , incentives, or regulations from the government.

I agree with governments but there are problems being solved here though we often don’t necessarily agree with how the solution comes about. But we also have to stop NOT doing things because it isn’t perfect.

History repeats itself and cities like London and Paris are reacting to very real problems and they can easily look back at how their problems can be solved. Los Angeles had a very real problem with air quality due to them being in a valley nestled below a mountain range along with dense population. This geography wouldn’t affect a place like Dallas that is so spread out and flat. But LA had air quality issues and worked to clean them up and now the air quality is much better most days. The days of a gray haze every day are gone. So whether we like the steps they ended up implementing, those steps, made by humans, had a very real impact POSITIVELY on their citizens. And yes they couldn’t get some engines or chemicals but necessity is the mother invention and somehow humans were able to adapt where it is a common part of daily life. Sometimes sacrifices do have to be made for progress.

There's dozens and dozens of windmills on I-65 going through Indiana when I head to "God's country", Tennessee and I'm glad I see them there and not ruining the beautiful state Tennessee is, thank you God!

I've been told that the stretch of windmills in the Appalachian areas (PA, Maryland WV) only produce about the same power as a traditional coal plant. Factor in that they contain large amounts grease, need to be de-iced and aren't recyclable, they don't sound so green after all.

they don't sound so green after all.

I think this is the problem with the world today. Too many statements, not enough evidence. Coal is an ongoing waste product. If there are parts of a windmill that can’t be recycled, well, at some point the advantage will overtake coal’s ongoing waste so that windmills are better for the environment. And just because we lack the technology to recycle something today doesn’t mean we won’t be able to recycle it in 10-25 years when a windmill is dismantled or upgraded.

But coal really isn’t an option in the US because it is too expensive to build a clean-burning coal plant. Even with the last administration’s support and extensive subsidies, coal plants weren’t being built.

I live in East TN and we get a lot of our power from hydroelectric, which is why the Tennessee Valley Authority was founded. But they have clean burning coal plants too (and probably unclean) and I’ve also seen some solar arrays scattered around though I’m not sure which entities own them. I can’t remember seeing a windmill in TN…ever and maybe that is due to topology and environment. Lots of hills and inconsistent wind production; sometimes it is quite windy and other times the winds are calm.

info is from US energy information administration.

We now only use under 20% of coal for energy. Yet we have the largest record of coal reserves of any country.

Australia is 2nd but almost 80% of what they produce is exported...like Big Dave said.

China is 3rd. They produce and consume around half the worlds total in coal. Over 70% of china electricity is from coal.

And yet i wander why we got back into the paris agreement. Some in the US push to rid of fossil fuels...yet buddy up to the biggest abusers.

Dont get me wrong, i think all the forms of electricity have their positives/negatives. all form their purpose and contribute. But can we really say ok lets get rid of certain ones? i dont think we are nowhere near ready for that, nor do i know if we will ever be.

i believe the same goes for EV. for the sake of trying to get back to the point of this thread :D

Just a little bit of useless info for yall i guess lol.

The only thing constant is change, right

Can someone please tell me how electricity is produced because I know coal plants are one way and another way is solar panels, but what happens when there's no sun for a couple days In the case of midwest USA in the winter that's alot of days

Damns and rivers, wind and wind mills.

hahaha i know right. and im sure the new camaros drive great..never been in one, i just dont care for the look. sometimes status que isn't a bad thing. atleast the challengers have stayed somewhat true to their looks from the past.

as far as rams sales....well they did it right by selling them so cheap, and i hear they ride nice. I mean you get so many more bells and whistles at a cheaper price than gm or even ford, so no wonder so many ppl buy them. although rams resale value is not as good.

and yeah focusing on suvs for sure, they fazed out most models of cars. now most folks want a "pickup" with a tiny bed and huge cab :doh:

will it though unless big goverment tells you...hey you have to do this or else. i think we can agree we already have seen that start to show its ugly head in the last year or so.

Yeah I din’t like the styling at first... now i think it’s the best looking of the 3 pony cars. Chargers are to big and dated styling. Mustangs messed up the car with the 18 refresh.

As for the car most by them on how the perform. Driving in real roads and in real life the 6th gen drives circles around my old s550 coyote and challengers.

Anyone like the Taycan?

It's a Porsche, what's not to like. I'd drive one if someone if someone gave me one, but I wouldn't pay what they want for a new one. Cheapest one over here is $218k.

Yeah your exchange rate is crazy high! That price here just about gets you a Turbo S...in Mamba green if you so desired

Part of that is what our government calls the "luxury car tax". Brought in to protect the local car manufacturers, which don't exist any more. But are they going to give it up?

the taycan is a beast... Plus it likes corners. LOL

The original promotional video of the taycan concept showed a working drone stored in the rear which one could launch when the vehicle is at rest.

Holy 007 !!!!

The production model is very close to the prototype

The Taycan is a blast to drive. And I’ve only driven the 4S (with upgraded battery pack). Imagine what the Turbo S can do. The dangerous part is the lack of noise which leads to speeds well above the limit without you noticing it.
