DFB's Garage

I used to work with a German woman years ago, the company we worked for ordered some equipment from Germany, there were no English instructions, so they asked her to translate, she laughed, said the instructions were in technical German, which she could not translate.

When I get scam calls, I know, I should ignore them, but I answer in German and tell them I don't speak English, they hang up.

Yeah i hear you even the old man has trouble when i had some German brand's translated for me. But i tell you want is spicy.... hearing an argument in German and thinking WHAT the hell are they on about...:wowwow::bash:;)

Got to laugh at the documentation that goes with a service these days. The invoice is adamant my Mustang has a Turbo, and has done since it was new apparently. The online report they send you on tyre condition, brakes ect lists the tyres all being 255/40/R19 despite the rears being 275/40/19, and apparently, I have a spare tyre with 7mm of tread? (Mustang GT's don't have a spare by the way). So it leaves you wondering did they even bother doing this or did they just tick a few boxes. In defense to them, the car is basically like new, so scrutinizing brake and tyre wear is not all that important at this stage.

I had the complimentary inspection from Mazda tell me that my automatic transmission fluid level was ok. It's a manual. I mentioned this in the survey they sent me afterwards. The service manager offered to have a tech go over everything with me in person. I don't need that, just don't give me BS paperwork.

This is exactly what I need for my garage, my sanctuary.

Any link as to the supplier of this lovely flooring, thanks.

Thanks! That floor is my life's work! Lol!

As mentioned, the floor is Swisstrax Ribtrax.

Ribtrax – Flexico Storage & Floors

They also make a smooth version called SmoothTrax, which can be easier to move wheeled devises around on, likewise DiamondTrax.

Ribtrax Smooth – Flexico Storage & Floors
Diamondtrax – Flexico Storage & Floors

The Ribtrax looks the best to my eye and is apparently better at dealing with debris compared to Smoothtrax. DiamondTrax doesn't allow water to pass through, which is a great benefit of Ribtrax/SmoothTrax as it means not standing in puddles of water. Water then evaporates up through the slots or into a drain.

I bought my floor from Flexico, and would do so again due the exceptional service they provided. I had the owner of the company dealing with me, she was awesome in understanding what I wanted and how much this purchase meant to me. The process involves contacting them to arrange a consult, you discuss what you want and then send in your measurements. They then come back with a floor layout and tile quantity.

You then place the order. I had to wait until the next shipment of tiles as this was at the height of the shipping delays in 2021. (The floor designer they use is very accurate in the quantity required, but I would order additional tiles to account for potential screwed up cuts, and you will screw up a few, I did too.)

I self-installed my 4+ car garage in a day. All you need is a tape measure, circular/compound miter saw, a sharp utility knife, a marker and a set square. The saw must have a fine-tooth blade for plastic, and I found using a utility knife the best for making the more intricate cuts. I would avoid using a jigsaw as it makes messy cuts. A rubber mallet can also be helpful for clicking the tiles together, your hands/wrists get pretty fatigued after a while. Having a second person will make the process much quicker, I had my father help me by dropping the tiles as I shuffled along snapping them together.

The way I did mine was to vacuum and move things around as required, often onto the already finished sections. This meant not having to completely gut the garage and then find somewhere to put everything while I worked. Work smarter, not harder and all.

The floor completely changed how a feel about the garage and made it more usable. I would do it again in a heartbeat.

There are a couple of other vendors of similar looking tiles in Australia, but I can't speak highly enough of how I was looked after by Flexico.

Happy to help further if you need, as I hope you tell, I couldn't be any happier with how my floor turned out.

DFB did your GT come with 19’s? I thought those black mesh wheels you had were factory 20’s.

We can't order factory 20'' wheels on Mustang as all cars are Performance Packs with the big brakes, which are not compatable with the 20's.

Factory 19" PP1 Wheels vs Ford Performance 19" HP Wheels -

Why aren't 20's compatable w/ a BBK

Caliper clearance to the spoke design. The wheel will clear the rotor, but the spokes are not dished out enough for the 6-piston calibers used on Performance Pack models. I'm specifically talking about the factory option 20" inch wheels -

Both of those are GT's fitted with 20inch wheels and the smaller 4-piston calipers.

I think he means the 20” ford mustang option wheels. You can fit 20’s aftermarket on mustang with PP. I thought the PP mesh wheels were 20” but never really looked.

Never loved the PP1 wheels. They were offered as standard in gloss black, or no-cost-option silver. I originally ordered the silver versions but changed to black as after seeing a couple with silver, they looked more fussy.

And just when I thought I had rid myself of fussy looking wheels on a Mustang, the S650 I have on order comes with these.........................

I want these wheels though...................

The Darkhorse wheels do look good, you could always turn to the aftermarket for your wheel choice I'm sure someone would buy your stockers, afterall they do look really good!

Are the split 5 the dark horse wheels? Still trying to talk myself into one but just don’t love the front end.

The Camaro wasn’t my 1st (or even 3rd choice) but it has become my favorite daily I’ve ever owned.

With nice sunny weather over the next few days, I extracted the Falcon out from under its cover for daily driver duties.

Nice to drive something to work that has some grunt!

I'm not totally in love with the S650 either, it lacks the purity of the S550 in my opinion.

There would only be one thing I would change on the S550 design, the front overhang is massive and has the effect of making the wheelbase look tiny. If they could have pushed the wheels forward, it would have been perfect. They did their best to hide it though, so it's only noticeable from certain angles. I suspect platform constraints put a cap on that.

But, I'm ready for something new. Sadly, it looks like all export S650's have been pushed into next year.
