DFB's Garage

My Armour order I placed yesterday is on the way from Florida to Alaska as well

I opted for USPS Ground shipping because it was half the price of Priority so I won't get my order until September 6th

For the 8 years that we lived in the bush we actually had a dog team and at one point we had 27 sled dogs

We never competed, it was simply something we wanted to do and experience

You have no idea how terrifying it can be the first time you have a dozen hyper sled dogs take off across the tundra and all you can do is hang on and hope

I certainly miss that life

Damn, that's a whole lot of animals to care for! I can barely take care of myself and my wife - and sometimes she even *speaks* to me to let me know what she wants.

Plus you don't get to "put them away" after the season like a boat or snowmachine

You feed them and clean up after them 365 days a year

2012 Honda Civic VTI-L Detail

This Honda was recently bought by my boss for his newly licensed son. The young lad is nowhere close to being interested in cars, so his only two requirements for his first car were it had to be white and had to be an automatic. The father on the other hand wanted to spend as little as possible, it taking a while to realise that a clean, roadworthy small first car doesn’t exist at $5000 like it would have when he was a boy.

Upon arrival, the smile on the boy's face said it all! :D

The young lad in question actually does some weekend work with us at the nursery. I can see a lot of character traits that we share in common; somewhat shy and socially awkward, liking routine and order, very procedural. Also like me, I have seen him become more confident, if still a little unsure of himself. He is dreaming big too, next year he will be off to study medicine. His first car will take him a long way and I'm glad to have been part of that journey.

Apparently the young lad had his father drive him to school on Tuesday because it was raining and he didn't want to get the car dirty.

So proud! :D

Update: It's in the queue waiting to go through the Panama Canal.

I couldn't help myself, it showed up in my search history.

Funny, I literally two minutes ago was checking on its progress too!

Not that I'm checking every day or anything........................................

Just spotted a guy took delivery of his S650 Mustang GT at the Bathurst Ford dealer today (post #1747)....................

2024 Mustang Australia (AU) Pricing and Timing Schedule | Page 117 | Mustang7G - 2024+ S650 Mustang Forum (Dark Horse, GT, EcoBoost, GT500, GT350, Mach 1)

Exact same spec as mine, Race Red, Magneride (with mandatory red brake calipers), the Black Pack which includes a black painted roof, black mirrors, black wheels (I know, they are hideous) and those awesome blacked out headlights. Ford have just today announced the Black Pack is no longer available for Australia (due to parts shortages), replaced by the Bronze Appearance Pack.

Looking at the rear, while the S550 didn't need a spoiler, with the pinched look of the rear lights/decklid, I can't help feeling it needs a spoiler..............except Ford doesn't offer one as an accessory like they did with the S550, or as a factory option when the Black Pack is chosen.

It does look good in RED, it looks good with the spoiler, but I don't mind it without either. The bronze pack won't go with the red in my opinion.

The spoiler looks great with the red, for me it improves something about the aesthetics. As far as the bronze pack, I could see that working on the Vapor Blue Mustang but I agree with Big Dave regarding the red/bronze pack.

Deyon, would a CF lip spoiler be an option

Deyon...your influence has been delivered

These are my 3rd thru 7th ADS products, looking forward to using each of them, inparticular Armour Quartz Coating ️You guys looking at this obviously can't feel the quality here but it's there, no doubt about it! The Coating box has magnets to keep it closed, are you kidding me, I've never seen this before, little things mean alot, it shows they care enough to do this and as if the box quality isn't enough, I can only imagine what the results will be

So Deyon, your through writes up and 100% trust in your judgement has paid off, make a mention of it in your future videos...you'll be fine, trust me, the amount of time, quality and effort you put in SHOULD be rewarded

Look forward to hearing your thoughts. I'm surprised you didn't get Amplify as well.

My introduction to the ADS was late last year in the search for a coating to use on the XR6's wheels. I could have easily chosen from a variety of wheel coatings already sold in Australia, think DLUX, Gyeon Q2 Rim, Gtechniq C5 or NV Wheel. None of them grabbed me, in fact I wasn't all that impressed with the NV Wheel I used on the Mustang. DLUX was the contender, but the lack of slickness didn't win me over. After seeing Matt from OG use and then put the ADS wheel coating in his store that I knew it was what I was looking for. The winning factor being the slickness and hydrophobic qualities it has over competitor wheel coatings. I bit the bullet and ordered a bottle direct from ADS............................

In Australian dollars the coating was $125, shipping from US to AUS cost only $34, all up $159.00 AUD. Actually, I got 10% discount for a total of $140.25. For context, the master distributor of ADS in Australia lists the same coating at $167.95 with free shipping. In theory, it would work out better if I ordered directly from ADS. Actually, checking that now on the ADS site, shipping to AUS is now $59. So, add that to $125 and you end up at $184. So, that proves my theory of ADS eating the cost of shipping to get some market traction. And for those who think free shipping is a thing, well, someone somewhere is paying for it.

For further context, Gyeon Q2 Rim sits at $74.99 and only lasts 12 months. Gtechniq C5 at $87.90 for 24-months. The ADS wheel coating is more expensive, but it will outlive the 1 to 2-year claims for those competitor coatings, is slicker, has better hydrophobics. And while the initial wipe off is grabby, the ADS coating is easy to apply and only requires a single layer. The end result is super glossy, super hydrophobic and super slick.............all without needing a top layer coating or topper.

I've since applied that coating to the Ranger and....................a lawn mower. Shortly after applying to the Ranger, my contact at Detailing Shed let me know they were introducing the ADS coatings to their store, with the maintenance line coming later on. Even though I was super keen to try out the rest of the ADS line, I waited patiently to buy it locally. The wait was worth it!! As I have said previously, the cohesiveness of the line is what impressed me most. Often, a brand will have a few winners with a clear standout. Each ADS product hits a home run, which is rare in detailing.

Where once, if I had to pick just one brand, it would have been Carpro. Now.............its ADS. Simple as that.

Yep, would be right up my alley!

I swear our tastes are always onpar

Btw I previously bought Hero and Amplify locally, those were the 1st and 2nd ADS purchases.

I did send them a "Deyon-esqu" email after getting my order yesterday. It included some context on my car, how and why I chose them (mentioned you), my current coating and how happy I am with it and a little issue...the screw on cap dispenser for their soap. I screwed it on and it leaked, I grabbed a spare one I had and no issues.

Yeah in 3 weeks to the day I'll be opening that magnetically closed box and applying the coating from ADS, just need good weather as I'm doing the prep work here at home, then going to The Bays, inside, to polish/coat the EN and leaving it there overnight for proper curing

I've always preferred the look of a lip spoiler over "wings".

Sent from my motorola edge 20 fusion using Tapatalk

Now that I'm getting older, I tend to agree with that sentiment on lip spoilers. Although, it's very much dependent on the overall design of the car. For example, I would have a GT3 Touring simply because it doesn't have the tacky spoiler and aero stuff...........even if it is functional.

A WRX STi on the other hand, the spoiler is part of the DNA.

It's funny how a rear spoiler was considered extremely desirable, think late 90's to mid 2000's. Having a spoiler on your Commodore or Falcon was just the done thing or signified you bought the higher end models. For that reason, the Monaro ended up with an optional spoiler because the marketing department demanded it, thinking customers would desperately want one. The styling department hated it, and so do I because it ruins the best asset of the Monaro, that plump rear end. On the sedan, it worked. On the Monaro Coupe, it didn't. Some people did indeed order it though.

They even started putting them on Utes, which was probably a step too far.....................

Mitsubishi even slapped on a Magna....................

Of course, most were purely for aesthetic purposes. From memory, the T3 T-Series and BA/BF FPV GT's actually provided some measurable downforce, but who was driving their GT at 200 kpm to find out.

And if one spoiler wasn't enough, Ford had a Bi-Plane spoiler as part of the Tickford Body Styling Kit between 1998 and 2000.................

The first car I had with a spoiler and a body kit was the SV6. I learned to hate the low front bumper, and it wasn't even that low. The first weekend I had it I pulled the bumper off parking over something too high. I was so mad at myself, but it popped back on without any noticeable damage, the next service I told them it sounded loose, they said some of the plastic clips were broken, and replaced them for free. I loved the rear wing, till I had to wash and dry around it, and realised it annoyed me looking in the mirror, blocking my view.

When I had my VL, I loved the boot lid shape, with the little bobtail built into the metal, see the picture below, although you could also get a lip spoiler to emphasise it. The weird thing about VLs was the constant build up of condensation on the inside of the boot lid, every morning, regardless of the weather, there was water dripping off the inside, apparently it was very common, but only on VLs as far as I know.
