EGO LB-765 Blower

I finally held a 650 and a 765 with battery attatched at lowes...im no weakling but my word those suckers are way heavier than my gas powered echo. Im not sure i want one now.

Surprised me too.

A lot of that weight comes from the 5.0ah battery, the difference between the 2.5ah and 5.0ah is significant.

Hahaha i really was suprised though. Just so used to the weight of my gas blower

I actually my 650 for wrangling leaves in piles in my yard a couple weeks back. The next two or three days, my forearms and biceps were sore like I'd been through an Arnold Schwarzenegger workout lol.

Maybe use the shoulder strap next time?

So there was a big issue with the OG Apex Aire stubby being loose. I was surprised Matt let it through his OCD QC.

I was also not a fan of the fit.

That being said I never really touch the nozzle and it has been great.

If you are switching between the long and short nozzles this is the better choice as I’ve seen the Stubby Nozzle Co can be hard to take off.

If leaving on I would buy the Stubby nozzle co as it’s about $25 cheaper with a BlowerBand (OG one has rubber tip) once you factor in the free shipping vs $20ish Obsessed charges for shipping where SNC doesn’t.

If the switching nozzles is not an issue and your OCD doesn’t mind it being loose I would order what is cheapest.

So ApexAire is coming out with a new one. They are standing behind there product and will be offering an exchange from what I saw on the video.

Also now built in US

Matt suggested we just “buy a new one” as it will cost the vendor a lot of money.

Owner seems nice but how bout you pay for our new ones Matt. People put trust you to put out a quality product and you failed.

I bought a 765 this past weekend. My 650 stopped working and I didn't want to be without while it's getting fixed. All the models Lowe's had were on sale. I picked it up for $279.99 with a 5.0ah battery. Kinda makes me wonder if Ego has a new model they plan to drop soon..?

One thing that was obvious right away was that the 765 was lighter than my 650. The "auto" toggle switch also seemed to be more robust on the 765.

Ego 900 on the horizon?

2.5 ah battery is also down to $115 now.

Didn’t know where to post so this seems like a good place…

Ego came out with their own stubby finally. Entire tip is covered with a rubber boot. Fits like long tube and also connects to other Ego tips.

Ordered and received one last week.

Was a bit of a challenge to remove the 3D printed nozzle, which this video shows the correct way to do it -

That's great news. Nice to know their are some companies that pay attention to how their products are being used.

They seem heavy for a one car guy - I presently use a 25 year old Stihl & a 3 yo DeWalt 20V. Anyone use these for home use? Yeah. I know about tradeoffs, but EGO seems on the clumsy side. Why would I need a 5 pound battery plus the tool to blow off a car?

The key is the CFM and speed ratings. The LB765 is said to be the most powerful hand-held leaf blower on the market, and that includes 2-stroke gas powered units.

Gas -

Stihl BG 56 - 412 CFM

Stihl BG 86 - 440 CFM

Battery -

Stihl BGA 56 - 365 CFM

Stihl BGA 86 - 494 CFM

Dewalt 20V - 450 CFM

EGO LB 650 - 470 CFM, 650 CFM with turbo mode

EGO LB 765 - 580 CFM, 765 CFM with turbo mode

The 765 "blows" the competitors out of the water for air speed and volume, which makes for quicker and more efficient drying. That's not to say any of the others listed above can't dry a car, I have used the Stihl BGA 56 for this role in the past, but it took considerably longer, was less thorough and used more battery doing so. With the stubby nozzle fitted, an EGO can be held in a way that negates the weight/bulk factor.

Thanks for the comparisons - I hadn't realized that my DeWalt was that close to the old gasser in "blowing". I picked that up as I already had started the 20V battery family, but tried an EGO trimmer last summer. The extra weight in the EGO batteries of course makes for longer available sessions, but makes things less likely to get done, and quicker doesn't really count for this retiree .. now I am wondering if I can fabricate a stubby nozzle ..

I have a 2.5 amp battery for mine as well as the 5 amp. Runs out of juice quick but it does lighten it up.

The 5.0 ah battery is certainly hefty. I have used the 2.5 ah a few times and it can certainly get around most cars, you would definitely need the bigger battery on a truck. At least with the EGO's, the lower sled allows the user to hold the unit two handed, which sort of helps with weight distribution. We have a 765 at work for use as an actual leaf blower, I find it somewhat poorly balanced with the long tube for that role. Go figure.
