Don't know if the rest of y'all are experiencing this, but every time I turn around I am finding some of my favorite establishments closed due to not being able to find workers.
Is there a secret government program that I am not aware of? How are these unemployed folks paying their bills

Just drove around for 30 minutes trying to find something to eat only to end up back home eating a can of Campbell soup

Around here places are open all the time. But some soup always sounds good

Soup sucks! There's nothing there but water and noodles. I need real food like fried chicken

You’re having the wrong soup but yes fried chicken certainly beats it

How did a can of it come into your possession?

The thing I've noticed the most is the incredibly STUPID length of the wait times for everything from fast food to getting my meds at the pharmacy (one script took me literally WEEKS to get), plus the pharmacy I currently HAVE to use - due to my heath coverage through work, which I will have until 12/31. on 1/01 I switch to a new insurance that will let me dump the current moro...., er pharmacy.

All from lack of employees. I just don't get it. *I* was brought up to get a job/career and pay your own way until you retire & collect an EARNED pension. Or be like my uncle, who gets his pension, Social Security and STILL chooses to work at his old job, part time, whenever he FEELS like working.

That's one of the biggest things that stuck in my craw working the inner city - people with no jobs, no INTENT to get a job, living off the government and having nicer things than I do (yes, I know, THINGS aren't what matter), my health and family make me an extremely rich man, but I still busted my hump for the last 40 years to EARN what I do have.

I'm going to stop now, before I get too agitated.

Good question. I bought a few cases in case shtf. Now I'm thinking if we get hit with a nuclear blast I'm going outside to suck in the air. This is no way to live (imo)

Do you have a room that I can rent? Your car will stay spotless

No room to rent. Not sure if you’d want to live in Florida

I agree with everything that you've said. I can take a few days off and feel the pain of no money coming in.
These morons that never work always seem to wear really nice clothes and drive new cars. I don't get it.

We see a lot of this in Alaska, most fast food places can only do drive through service due to short staffing

Last week there was ONE person working at Krispy Kreme doing everything, cooking, taking orders, filling orders, etc

What really surprised me though was when we were in British Columbia for over a week in late August

They are going through the same thing, every single place was plastered in HELP WANTED signs, so I am really confused now because it is hard to blame OUR (USA) government for THEIR identical problem

Part of it is this entitled generation

I can't tell you how many slacker @$$ hats I have heard say "I'm not getting out of bed for $15 an hour"

My friend that runs the fried chicken joint that I frequent was telling me that employees just don't show up for work if better plans pop up. They'll show up the next scheduled time and act like nothing happened. They don't even bother calling with bogus excuses. It's so hard to find workers he has to put up with it. He pays $20 per hour but they want more. There is only so much money that a fried chicken joint can make before it's not worth it.
I am so piseed off over this. Glad to hear it's not only happening here

My FIRST job paid $3.35 / hour.

When I started the job, I'm retiring from 30 years ago, the hourly wage was $9.08. Over time it DID improve by small increments, but I had to WORK for it. At the time I filed for retirement, it was +/- $35.00 / hour, which in reality was still not enough to be a police officer in the public housing areas in the inner city. But I did it anyway, because I have a DUTY to support my family. Love or hate the job, providing for my family was (and is) #1. I couldn't honestly call myself a real man if I was unwilling to do what was necessary for my family.

I have soup as a first course in my meal. I’m far from anorexic.
