SEMA 2023/2024 New Products

I've been using something similar for a few years now. While I've seen people use them for coating removal, I tend to just use them for dirty jobs that would otherwise ruin a nice towel. Metal polishing, tar removal, adhesive removal, tire prep................

Metal polishing seems like one of the best uses. Is that Tarminator on tires just for removing old dressing, or does it also remove browning?

Saw this hit Instagram last night. I'm pretty interested in this one, not because of the fact it has diamonds, or meteorite fragments, or alien bone dust, etc in it, but simply because it's a new consumer coating from CQuartz. I've been a long time user of CQUK across a couple generations and TiO2 and liked both of them. It's good to see them finally bring out a new product and I'm eager to see some reviews on how it performs.

The Rag Company are certainly not the first to do something like that, but good to see nonetheless.

I like the idea of having those towels for really nasty jobs like tailpipe polishing, tar removal in lower rocker panels, cleaning nasty wheel barrels, etc. All those times when you want something more substantial than a traditional disposable towel (the heavy ones, not a paper towel) and you don't want to sacrifice one of your regular MF towels.

Is this the one?!?!?!?!?!

Yeah, they really read my mind with this one, I wanted a paint-safe towel, that was cheap enough I could throw away, for removing tar, and I wanted a light enough color to be able to see how dirty the towel was (a lot of "wheel" towels are really dark). I have 2 different TRC towels in my cart that are 85 cents and $1.33 ea., that I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger on, but I think at 38 cents (80 for $30) I'm in!

Jason said it's 40 minutes run time, 40 minutes to charge, which is a little more optimistic than the specs. When the Nano came out, they said the same thing, that the run time was equal to the charge time, did that turn out to be accurate? The Day 2 TRC vid goes into depth on these new machines (I think it was Day 2, it's all running together for me now).

sorry, I meant continuous with three batteries ( 2 in the charger and one in the polisher). Although with 40 minutes run time 40 minutes charge time, 2 batteries would be enough if everything performs as expected.

Also, part of me thinks that by continuous they might be trying to say the machine doesn’t slow down when the battery gets low.

The Rag Company Rip N Rag
80 Count Box - $29.95
30 Count Roll - $14.95
Terry style, 70/30 blend, 12"x12"
~180-220 gsm

I never fully understood these: If I expect to only use a towel once, I have a stash of towels I don’t want to use on paint anymore, and I cut them into clean pieces.

So I always thought of towels like these as for when I am going to need to throw out a lot of towels, or If I get tired of cutting up old towels.

These are a lot cheaper than Griots edgeless utility towels (~80 cents each), which is surprising. I wonder if they are better quality?

Even if towels are cheap, I still want them to be good (safe)

Metal polishing seems like one of the best uses. Is that Tarminator on tires just for removing old dressing, or does it also remove browning?

Yes, Tarminator. I really only use it on Michelin tires as they are a bear to deal with. For what ever reason, I can never get them to release a tire dressing despite multiple attempts from multiple products. Tarminator does though.

Griot's Hand Cleaner popped up on their website

Wow that's a lot better than I expected, and I would be surprised if they didn't include the inverter, if that's what it's called, that's what makes it an "iBrid". I might have to buy a 15 so I can look at it in the box...I can't remember the last time I polished anything automotive. Oh, wait, I do...it was a couple of years ago, a scuff repair with a 4" pad on my old PC.

From the reseller that I copied that info from:

This is a launch kit and currently the only option available this buy these machines - in the future there will be more configurations available.

No version without the pads?

From the OG Sema video, the units will launch in kit form to begin with but will be available as tool/battery only kits in the future. Expected availability for the US market is Jan-Feb 2024.

I don't get it: Why are the brushes better than a wheel woolie, boars hair brush, or autofiber wheel brush?
  • I can see preferring them over microfiber towels because reach, if your wheel isn't off.

I get the clay, but wasn't everyone saying synthetic clay is so much better than clay when those were the new thing? Now we're back to clay bars?

Theres a lot of things I don't get which are successful though

:dunno:

The ceramic liquid wax is replacing the liquid poly gloss (not the foaming poly gloss).
The ceramic trim restorer can be used on interior panels.
The plastic all-in-one also contains their "ceramic", but isn't labeled as such.

First The Rag company and now Griots! It's no surprise Tornador is selling out there patents. Only problem on the Griots and TRC is there the 20 year old design versus the new Black and Max with the metal rotate set! But I'm sure they will start to pop up in three year! Iv'e been asking Kevin at Chief steamer to make an attachment ONLY that fits the Vapor Chief and he is dead set that Tornador will sew him. I keep telling him it would be like any other pneumatic products out there and it would have zero to do with Tornador but he just doesn't get it! He's a great guy but a bit coarky and zero ingenuity. It would be the ultimate attachment since the 100 and there larger one pushes out 100 psi! and would be the worlds best interior cleaner:buffing:
And by the way I could of detailed a car for the amount of time it took to post this!!! I swear there forum runs on dial up

That Dquartz Go, and the new Megs coatings will be in my next order.

I'm actually interested in trying them.
