What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

It didn't sling on either the Chevelle or the Mustang. I know Carpro says to wipe it down. Maybe I got lucky. Just apply it uniformly and work it with the brush. Seems to work for me.

I know those pictures are terrible, but I didn’t think of taking any until I had moved the vehicle into the shade…

My brothers truck was filthy, so I wanted to do him a favor but at the same time wasn’t in the mood to work too hard to do it. So I put some Meguiars NXT soap in the foam cannon and foamed the truck without pre rinsing it, then rinsed it off with the 15 degree nozzle, then waterless washed it with Wolfgang Uber rinseless wash using 2 big terry weave drying towels. It came out so clean with with very little effort.

The tires/rims were well dried and warm this morning so I got a second coat of ADS Tire+ on and let it sit for an hour

I really like how this product goes on and behaves. With this $4 Suds Lab applicator a little of the product goes a long way. It spreads evenly and most important, it seems to start penetrating immediately

Now this might be because the tires had never been dressed before but they weren’t super clean and stripped back either, having been cleaned with just a rinseless wash and a brush

So many tire dressing fight you and just don’t want to get into the nooks and crannies and allow themselves to be leveled by the applicator

This Suds Lab applicator is available at Walmart so that’s a plus

I knocked it back after an hour and got this

Just a bit shiny for my tastes but if it lasts any time at all I will be a happy camper

I forgot to add that I used Perl on the 4th tire as a control to see how they stack up

The Tire+ went on way easier than the Perl on THESE tires, but the way dressings act on various tires is one of the biggest variabilities in detailing, in my opinion

No I have no mods to the frame. It is stock.
It drives/cruises fine with 600 hp. It has a fairly large cam and occasionally has a little minor bucking at low rpm/low speed driving such as under 15 mph in 1st gear. How ever stomp on the gas and the torque is incredible.
Is the 540 made from a GM block? My 496 started life as a 454.

The one I’m looking at is a dart block. Either from CNC Motorsports or Shariroff. I have a 489 (gm 454 block) and was just looking at a head swap but no idea what pistons I had to figure out proper heads. The bottom end is SCAT but cast crank and Hypereutectic pistons.

I’ve got 385hp to the wheels (450hp/crank?). Just wanted more but with no real builders left in the NW and going down rabbit holes… here I am.

Trying to use up the leftovers from my Hero vs N-914 comparison

All pre-rinsing was done with N-914 at 128:1

The IK Foamer has a liter of distilled water and 30ml of N-914 and was used to pre-foam the rear end, although it wasn’t working very well today and was very runny

It still softened up the crap and carried a lot of it off

I used the Hero on the roof, the side windows, windshield, and the back doors down to the handles

Everything else was N-914

I finished with ADS Amplify and used only that on the entire car this time

I can’t speak to longevity but it left a nice, silky feeling finish

My shoulder ran out of steam before I could get to the wheels but tomorrow is another day and I won’t drive this until they are done and get a coat of Megs HCW on them

Your thoughts on Hero vs 914 (v2?)?

Just a wash and a coating topper with my 3 favorites products. Carpro Reset, Carpro Perl on tires and Polish Angel High Gloss as the coating topper.

If you like Perl give Griots Ceramic tire dressing. Perl vibes with better longevity with same ease of application.

DarkSide is nice but application sucks.

Agreed on other two products. Nothing out there beats application experience of Polish Angel.

I was not that impressed by Hero, especially after all the praise I heard, and I much prefer N-914 v1 for cleaning power; I have N-914 v2 but haven't bothered to open it yet

I don't know if it is my age or what but I honestly don't get the huge variations in "lubricity feel" that some of you guys apparently do

There are a few bucket soaps that I can feel lubricity differences but honestly ONR v5 feels slicker to me so I'm probably not one to judge that particular attribute

Hero works fine if a car is dusty and the dirt isn't bonded to the paint, at least that is my takeaway

I assume from your avatar that you own a Chevelle. Possibly a 72? Do you frequent Team Chevelle forum? Lots of good info on that site and even for your situation.

As a 911 fan I feel dirty saying this but if I won the lotto, I couldn't possibly buy a 911 over THIS

BRG w/ brick red interior and bronze wheels! That car is absolutely stunning from EVERY angle, I'm absolutely blown away with how this car was redone

Pretty to look at but engineering-wise I'd take the 911 all day (gotta have a stick and not a fan of marques using other company's motors vs in-house engineering). Styling-wise, though, the people at AM do hit home runs.

That is GORGEOUS

Yeah I haven’t had any feel better than Absolute. Better cleaners… yes.

I haven’t jumped on the Hero bands wagon yet… probably wait for v2 as I have a gallon of ONR v3, gallon of Idrosaveand half to full bottles of DiY absolute Mckee’s (v1) and KC RR.

Two I’d recommend for you to try that are better (for me) are Idrosave. Cleans well and in a category of its own for adding protection. I like the idea of adding another layer every wash in your winter conditions. Truly is different from anything out there.

My go to right now is Koch Chemie Rapid Rinsless. Cleaning is amazing, leaves nothing behind.. I am a fan but Mckee’s v1 and better in every way.

I think problem with you and rinseless is same I have. I respect the Guz and value his opinion and work he puts in but my results in WA will be different than his in CA. Your environment in AK will result in same difference from not just Guz but a lot of online personalities and even the AG faithful.

Seriously though you should try those two with RR being the one if you can only try 1. You can get from Carzilla.

FWIW it's AMG yes, but IIRC they use AM specific parts and tuning. AMG, as you know, do handmade engines...I'm good going outside for that

I have superficially looked at the Labocosmetica line simply because the buzz about it seems way out of the ordinary, compared to other newer or expanded lines

But Every time I try to suss it out I just get bogged down in the multitude of PH Scale choices for everything, or so it seems to me, and it also seems like something gets added (or released here) so frequently I get behind again

I have never tried anything from Koch Chemie simply from an availability standpoint but yeah, Carzilla is an option

I never tried Absolute either

It just gets overwhelming at times

I am on there time to time (FordvsChevy). 71 SS clone

Very nice looking 71. Yes I recognize your TC user name. Should have put 2 and 2 together. You are sometimes in on the limited detailing threads that pop up there.
I'm a regular on TC since 2002.

I have Labocosmetica Idrosave and it's awesome but that thread about their foaming RW, IIRC, had my head spinning

One Koch Chemie product you'll love Crack is Mp, the best engine bay detailer I've ever used...period! It's basically a self leveling product and even with frequent wipes with leftover RW solution it still looks awesome, worth the price because of looks AND durability

Absolut is the real deal, check on Forensic Detailing to see how it did in hid VERY throughout review of it and 11 others
