What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

That's a good deal.
Yeah I just couldn't resist. While I'm there I can properly clean my car and UNPLUG from what's going on around me, it does more good than just a clean car...I HATE WINTER TIME

I cleaned and dressed my summer wheel/tyre combo. TWHS Hyper Foam on the tyres, front and back, plenty of brown coming off the back, the wheels haven't been on the FJ for 4 years, so I gave them a wipe over with a damp MF and put some more 303 Touchless Sealant on them. Finished off by dressing the tyres with Carpro Perl, front and back. After putting them on I went for a test drive, had a little bit of oversteer turning on to the street, so there may have been a bit of Perl over spray on the tread. The may only stay on till my first drive in the rain, I remember them being a bit slippery, but I want to test them off road in the next couple of weeks.

Dave I've gotta be honest, THOSE look soooo much better and I can't say I remember those being on your FJ but it's like they say, the memory is the first thing to go

Btw why did you put them aside for so long and I'm confused about "summer and winter tires" down there

I'm sure it's the OG version, got it from The Clean Garage on super sale as they couldn't carry it anymore

I was just being funny calling them my summer tyres. While they are both Yokohama G015s, these ones are LT (light truck) construction, they are heavier and more robust, but offer less grip on road and are better off road. I called them summer tyres as I'd rather have them on in summer, they can be quite dicey in the cold and wet, especially now that they are 7 years old. They've been stacked in the a corner of the garage since March 2020 when I bought the black rims so I could put the wider rubber on, I thought about selling them, but they only look good on an FJ.

I found these pics of the FJ I took only a few days after I bought it, I know this because it still had the BFG ATKOs on it, I had to go back to the dealer when I discovered the BFGs weren't load rated for the FJ, they were the right size, but with a lighter load rating. They just put them on because they thought it looked tougher, they couldn't believe I checked the load rating, so they put the original Dunlops back on that it had been traded in with, which were better on the road

They look solid, no cracks in the rubber, but I have sprayed them with 303 AP a couple of times, and cleaned the wheels. I had to put air in all of them, but they were all down around 19.5 to 20.5 psi, so they were all holding air equally. I'm still considering spraying the black ones a different colour and putting them back on, maybe a dark bronze or gunmetal. There's so many vehicles running around with black wheels now, it's just not cool or distinct anymore. It's like when you see skinny dudes who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag covered in tattoos, they've made tattoos too uncool, and no, I don't have any tattoos.

Under about 4” of dust and dirt lies a Red Mustang. Been a busy year and haven’t even taken it out of the garage. Just sat and collected dust.

Looks good. Love those wheels. Are those factory or aftermarket?

Today I did a rinseless wash on the CRV with Optimum Hyper Foam. Used the Hyper Foam on the whole thing paint/glass/wheels and tires.

Temp here today at 7:00 AM was 14 degrees F and at wash time was 38 degrees F.

For a drying aid I used my secret sauce which is a combo of distilled water/Optimum detailer and Optimum Car Wax.

At first I was leary of the Optimum Hyper Foam but Ive come to like it. Dont put it in a foamer but still use it for the pre soak and in the bucket it is slightly sudsy. It cleans well.

Well, that was kind of an about-face.

Yes it is. If you recall my concern was based on a couple you tube reviews and I hadn't used it at that point. But I still haven't used it as a foaming rineless which is it's intended use. A foaming rinseless still doesn't make sense to me.

Probably better to look at it as a surfactant-based rinseless, althought some "history" of it I was just reading at DI called it a polymer-based surfactant, I think.

***NEW PRODUCT REVIEW***

CARBON COLLECTIVE-EVOLE RW

Yeah, yeah, yeah...it's Christmas but I've got time because my g/f is doing laundry and I don't have my daughter (she left @ 10 a.m.) and it's about 40 degrees outside and dry...LET'S DO THIS

Converting the dilution ratio over was basically 1 oz to 3 gallons (U.K. product-.8 oz to 3 gallons), I ended up doing 1.5 oz/3.5 gallons, a little stronger. I did the 2BM method using the Legacy sponge and fairly hot water

The EN was just at The Bays on Sunday, so not too dirty...right, WRONG! One look at that rinse bucket (sponge in it) tells a different story! It did rain/mist since then and it had salt dust on the lower sections, not sure why there's any salt laid down but there it was

I moved around each section and when drying it was EASY, leaving behind the smooth & glossy paint protected by ADS Quartz Coating, even overcast and 40 degrees...NO DRYING ISSUES

I finished up cleaning the tires, wheels and wheelwells and Evolve RW took care of business, simply sprayed the solution on there and wiped the tires with 1 mf towel, the wheels with another, no problem

How does it compare to Feynlab RW v3, well judging by my rinse bucket I think we've got a contender here, no doubt about it

Sounds very interesting. Especially during our CT winters. Thanks for the review.

Was waiting for a decent day to finally wash the truck. Today was it. Hit it hard. Installed the exhaust tip and license plate holder. Good interior. Really like the TW inside job. Engine is new so it needed nothing more than a quick wipe and sonus motor kote. Good wash was next. Forgot you see everything you missed with black. Tires got #253. Having an issue with one tire. It will not take dressing. Figure it is gassing out yet or release mold issues? Will have to use something stronger to clean next time. Figured now is the time to get some kind of protection on it. Tried my new TWHS black wax. I really had very little issues with it. 2- sprays per panel. Spread it then buff it off. I felt it left a great looking finish, it is going to be hard dealing with black now, but when black is clean there is nothing like it! Glass got pinnacle glass cleaner with repellant Good enough for now.

I coated this van for my brother in law 193 days ago and it hasn’t seen a drop of soap since. I wasn’t prepared to do a wash and his equipment is limited but he at least had the right products. There was no foam cannon so I had to use the soap dispenser on his antique pressure washer to apply the Touch-Less. He at least had good wheel brushes and Brake Buster so cleaning the wheels was the only part that was “normal”. After rinsing off I found an old bucket in his work shed and filled it with a few gallons of hot water and dropped in enough Incredible Suds to wash 5 vans. There was no wash mitt so I found a pack of paper thin Costco microfiber towels and bunched them together to create a makeshift wash mitt. After the contact wash I could assess the coating. The van sits outside 24/7 and under a group of large trees so it’s been covered in sap and whatever other crap I always find on my car every time I visit. It needs a thorough 3 pH wash but this was the best I could do. The coating is performing at an acceptable level on about 2/3 of the van but with another six months of neglect it will be all but dead. The one take away from this is no more free labor from the kindness of my heart unless it’s for the man who contributed half of my DNA or the woman that birthed my children. Everyone else has to pay to play.

I washed and waxed my brother's car earlier this year, and I know he hasn't touched it since, why would he, the dealer washes it every time it goes in for a service.
