17 Rinseless Washes Reviewed: pictures, charts, smell tests, and pseudo-science

Thank you very much for doing this. One thing to add is some of these have dilution ratios to use as paint prep (N914 and Gloss shop)

Was due for some N914, picked up some Gloss Shop sublime express. Had heard good things and based on your review.

N914 always allowed me to concentrate it more and use for a very grimey car. Then dry with Ech2o, without the streaking.

Thats great to hear- thanks for the intel. Would you say its a strong or mild scent?
What are your overall (non-scent) thoughts of the product for how you've used it?
I don't know what the old scent was like but this one is mild to me. Hints of the cherry and a little chemical like. I admit though, if it's not iron remover, I usually don't notice smell as a bad thing.

I used it as a deep clean (1:64) but didn't try to go powerful enough to strip anything. I was happy with it for that purpose. I certainly like the versatility of it to cover just about any need.

Blackfire rinseless is pretty similar to ONR if you had tried it.

Thanks for the thorough review.

Sure thing!

So many new products have come out since I did this.. probably about time for a new writeup

Oh...don't tease us like that.

BTW, the reason that Ech2O didn't want to mix with the water and didn't have rinseless wash dilutions on the bottle is because it was intended as a waterless wash and has some sort of oily lubricant in it, which is why I really didn't like it as a rinseless, although my wife does. It has grown on me a bit as a rinseless over time, I have a giant jug of it that AG was blowing out, I think they were changing from 4l to 1 gal packaging, so they were blowing the 4l out at half price or something.

Yeah Ech20 actually has some carnauba wax in it per Mike G. I think what many forget is it's supposed to haze up, then you buff off. Love Ech20.

I think it's got some light petroleum distillate in it, also. How can it have carnauba in it when it's supposed to have SiO2?

I don't know. The Guz said he was told it has both. The Sio2 acts more like a friction modifier. Not sure what the role is of the wax, maybe gloss?
