What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

That was the easy part.

Even though I wasn’t able to get the exterior in the condition I had hoped for just yet, these are the kinds of vehicles I love working on. I love taking a turd and turning it into a really shiny turd.
Atleast that soft, Japanese paint corrects easily

It’s a 2005. I won’t be going for any level of correction. Strictly gloss. The clearcoat is gone on the roof and I’m not willing to take any more of the razor thin clearcoat remaining on the rest of the vehicle. It’s the perfect test vehicle for my “students” to see how much of a difference a light polish can do since most customers just want shiny paint anyways.

What kind of teacher are you?

My day job is a gifted education teacher but I’ve taken on one of coworker’s children as my “students”. I’m trying to get them to up their detailing skillset so that they can stop doing three cars a weekend and just do one and make the same or more money.

Riddle me this 🤔

I've coated this vehicle 3 times in 3 years. I've been paid retail each time. The customer has only paid once

How did that happen?

(Sorry I had to crop the crap out of pic)
Coating failure X 2. The other two times you were paid by the coating manufacturer to redo it?

I gave the FJ a hybrid wash, rinsed it outside in the bright, hot sunlight, then moved it inside for a RW with Ech2o. It wasn't dirty, I think the neighbour mowed their lawn while it still had dew on it. From an earlier discussion, this is how I reach the middle of the roof, I step up from the tub with the doors open, but I do have to hang on to the grab handles so I don't fall back.

I do have a work platform, and it's good when I'm polishing the roof, but washing is a quicker job, and it's a pain moving it around in the tight confines.

This is my eye level view if I stand on the tub.

I also went over the interior with Nextzett Cockpit Premium.

And....done.

Ran the EN through the touch-free wash before starting work this morning, it was also 19 degrees but I did it because it's going to be sunny and 45 today

The mitt on a stick might be good for washing but what about drying/ applying a drying aid or aplying and removing wax.

The reason the mitt-on-a-stick pro has been out of stock for months became clear today--available early February will be the Pro+. They have a wide variety of covers, a couple chenille (noodle) variants, a couple like the Incredimitt or TRC Cyclone, a plush terry, a Dreadnaught drying cover, a clay substitute, and a Scrub Ninja.

Got a wash in today on both the CRV and the Tacoma. Did both in the garage. No pic of the CRV. Did both with just Optimum Hyper Foam and used my Optimum Hybrid drying aid.

Will probably do them both again outdoors in a couple days as the temps should improve. Its in the 20s today.

Once home I grabbed my Adam's waterless wash to touch up my touch-free wash this morning, had spots where the water dried, they came right off...easy! I also went over the tires & wheels with a designated mf towel, then finished up by wiping down the door/trunk jams, can't really do this when it's 19 degrees and 5:30 a.m.

Damn when it's sunny and 45 degrees at the end of January it's much appreciated

You are going to wash the paint off of your car. You young whipper snappers are something else
===
I've had my 4 runner for 9 months and still have not washed it

That and I'm very lazy
Next trip to The Dragon stop in memphis for a few days. I will pay you to clean my cars. I even have a place that you can stay if you don't mind lots of dog hair and clutter

You and the 18 year old exchanged freebees? Better watch out. That could kill a man your age.
At least you'd die with a smile on your face!!!!
Haha! No, that's not it either

Anyone else?
