What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

I’m about to start on this new Infiniti my customer dropped off with a fresh dealership applied $1000 ceramic coating. It’s raining so I got to see those lovely freshly coated water beads. The first two pics are from my car’s home garage coating job while the last two are from the dealership’s expertly applied coating.

Optimus, why did the customer bring the car to you after spending $1000 at the dealer? I can't believe a civilian would complain about the beading.

The dealership "beading" reminds me of patio furniture in the rain.

When she told me she was going to buy the vehicle she inquired about getting it coated. Fast forward about a month and she contacted wanting to get on a maintenance schedule and mentioned that there was no need to get it coated because the dealership applied a "ceramic treatment". Because it had already been applied at the time of purchase, there was no way to remove the charge according to the dealership. I had to inform her that she had been scammed and got nothing more than a spray and rinse sealant at best. I wish she would have contacted me before the purchase so I could have helped get that charge removed or told her to walk out of the dealership.

Before going to my dealership for this camera recall inspection I took the EN through the touch-free wash. For today's pre-wash I used 3 oz of Griot's Garage Foaming Surface Wash & Griot's Garage Ceramic wash and coat, temp 29 degrees and sunny. Once at the dealership I dried the side mirrors and rear area where they've gotta work.

No pictures but it was window day for my wife’s car. The Gyeon Quick View I put on before going to Montana at the beginning of September was looking gone. Still had plenty of it and so I put it back on. Did the interior front windows with some Prima Clarity I have been using up on interior.

A little too cold to do an OVERDUE RW on the TAOS (needs a contact wash) so I cleaned a coffee spill on her interior center console, which led to d/s WeatherTech removal, other WeatherTechs wiped down with Adam's WW, vac underneath it and finally an Adam's WW quick engine bay wipedown

Come spring it will get a better cleaning and application of Koch Chemie Mp engine bay dressing

Needed to get the wife's vehicle done and test some new products. I started with a Chem-X Stars & Stripes touchless. That did pretty well. I still followed-up with a touch wash but overall, very impressed with what Chem-X could likely do for a far less dirty vehicle.

The highlight was the secret sauce from @Klasse Act - finished it off with his FrankenDetailer. Easy to use and smooth as glass now. So good to have this one cleaned up after so many months of embarrassing winter weather covering it.

Only grabbed two quick photos.

Glad you liked it, can't remember which one I gave you but the pink is Wolfgang Uber RW-based and the white, cloudy one is Gyeon Q2 ECO wash-based

It was the pink. Great mixture! Even the Mrs commented how good it looked today once finished.

That's the best compliment, glad she noticed that, especially on white

Finally had a moment to correct my wife's Telluride! The paint was extremely finicky and the only pad/polish combo that worked was griots yellow pad with Sonax perfect finish...thank goodness it is a 2 year lease and I won't have to correct it again lol.

I was in the mood to wax a car so I went old school with Wolfgang Sealant and topped it with collinite 845. I forgot how good this combo is to use and how makes the paint look dripping wet. IMG-20250201-WA0015.jpg20250201_164127.jpg20250201_113212.jpg20250201_113224.jpg20250201_164119.jpg

Finished up the Infiniti dropped off last night and the level of damage done by the dealership is one of the worst I’ve seen. It looks great in pictures but up close there are so many issues that should never happen to a car. There are a ton of other issues that were too difficult to capture on camera but I’ll be rehabbing this vehicle inside and out over the next two months.

I’ve never seen this level of scratching on glass or tail lights.

Faded trim and scratching the paint off the door jamb during vacuuming I would assume.

And for the crème de la crème. The $1000 dealership coating after one wash. Last night I did a contact wash with DIY RW and foamed down with Touch-Less to make sure the surface was clean before claying. One wash with a rinseless and Touch-Less at 1% PIR was enough to kill this $1000 “coating.” I’m hoping that the customer takes this video and the other evidence I collected and gives the dealership hell for for scamming her.

That color looks like it's plugged into an outlet

Protected it with ADS Ceramic Sealant. Very easy to apply with great gloss and slickness. Hopefully I can boost the gloss with a good polish and coating next month.

Did a wash on the CRV.

Rinsed the undercarriage, then foamed the undercarriage with cleaning vinegar, rinsed again with hose.

Did a two bucket wash with Slick and Slide. Applied my Hybrid Optimum drying aid on paint, glass , wheels. Dressed

the tires with Aqua Gloss

By the way i calculated the cost of the drying aid per vehicle. Its a combo of distilled water, Optimum Instant Detailer and Optimum Car Wax and the cost per vehicle including the wheels is 97 cents. I use about 8 oz per vehicle.

No pic, to dark. But was able to rip out a contact wash on the car after work. First contact wash since dec 8th.

Foam cannon with primus 2.0 1:10. Let dwell. Pw off. Sprayed paint with labo sidero 1:4, let dwell.
Then IK multi pro 360 with primus 2.0 1:20 pretreat on lower panels, while both are still dwelling on the car i moved right in on the contact wash with purifica 1:200 in bucket.

Truthfully i was supprised at how you could see the surface tention start to break on the lower sides of the car where the road film line had made the water behavour dead for almost 2 months.

Glad to see ADS quartz topped with phobic is still performing. But winter aint over yet.

Sprayed ADS beads on it too for the heck of it.

How was the installation of ADS Quartz? I currently use Mohs as my 2-3 year coating but I’m always looking for alternatives.
