When it comes to the number of buckets do what works for you. I can see the benefits of two buckets but I use one. I wash my car damn near weekly and if it was scratching the paint my car would be hammered. If I use a foam cannon my rinse off of the initial foaming takes away all of the grit and damn near all of the dirt. When I do a RW, I typically flood the panels using my Multi 12. Both of my cars are coated so the self cleaning aspect helps but when it comes to detailing do you and keep it moving.
This is my approach to soap and rinse-less washing.
For me, the 2-bucket method is redundant. Why? Because I don't use a wash bucket, only a rinse bucket. The soap is delivered via foam cannon for maximum coverage and lubrication, the wash media rinsed in the bucket between sections. Why drag another bucket around when the soap is already on the car? Does this method mean I'm risking my paint because I didn't fill up another bucket? No, not at all.
However.................................the only reason why someone would use the 2-bucket method would be if you don't have a pressure washer/foam cannon setup. In which case, 100% use the 2-bucket method.
