Rinseless Washes - 2022

When it comes to the number of buckets do what works for you. I can see the benefits of two buckets but I use one. I wash my car damn near weekly and if it was scratching the paint my car would be hammered. If I use a foam cannon my rinse off of the initial foaming takes away all of the grit and damn near all of the dirt. When I do a RW, I typically flood the panels using my Multi 12. Both of my cars are coated so the self cleaning aspect helps but when it comes to detailing do you and keep it moving.

This is my approach to soap and rinse-less washing.

For me, the 2-bucket method is redundant. Why? Because I don't use a wash bucket, only a rinse bucket. The soap is delivered via foam cannon for maximum coverage and lubrication, the wash media rinsed in the bucket between sections. Why drag another bucket around when the soap is already on the car? Does this method mean I'm risking my paint because I didn't fill up another bucket? No, not at all.

However.................................the only reason why someone would use the 2-bucket method would be if you don't have a pressure washer/foam cannon setup. In which case, 100% use the 2-bucket method.

That was my 1st thought, the other side of my brain wants to flame the hell out of him.. I haven’t decided which path to take. Lol.

Yvan is more of a salesman than expert.
When IL first came out with his sponge, he said that one side had more scrubbing power. One of the influencers echoed the same. I assume changes to the sponge were made before actually marketing it to us. Then in “pimping” the sponge, we are told how ergonomic the sponge is and two colors so we can keep track of what side we were working on. Really? It’s a sponge, feel free to apply a little finger pressure to hold on to the thing. How does true ergonomic come into play? Actually, it’s the opposite, squeezing a sponge can help with carpel tunnel. Two sided colors, the day I can’t remember what side of the sponge I was working on, is the day I either get myself drug tested or check into a sanitarium, lol. It would be funny if everyone was buying their sponges from the same manufacturer.

Welcome to AG...what a post

Don't forget there's a v2 of that sponge where it doesn't have that stiff border, doesn't matter because I'm soon to be a "Villian"

Are you saying there is a newer version of the Legacy sponge, or are you talking about the Iconic sponge?

Also, Yvan did say somewhere that the different colors were part of teaching his franchisees how to do rinseless washes, so let's assume that there were people who bought a franchise that didn't know anything about washing cars, or hired people that didn't know anything about washing cars.

Yeah, I saw that--but you said "Don't forget there's a v2 of that sponge where it doesn't have that stiff border" and I was asking if you were referring to a V.2 Legacy sponge or to the Iconic sponge.
Oh sorry, the Legacy sponge

According to these guys a rinseless product cut 1:256 is over 99% water..

Yes when DIY first came out Yvan said one side had more scrubbing power but in less than 6mths he flip flopped and said it was the same foam. He's a proven liar.

Wait the Legacy towel is supposed to have 2 levels of scrubbing power between the red & black

If he said that and then flip flopped, what a clown

I also heard them say that but not frequently, though now they say it's the same on both sides.

I have also tried both the V1 and V2 of the Legacy sponge and I actually liked V1 better - it's more flexible and a little softer. The V2 is more rigid and less able to squeeze into tighter spaces. They both have that fabric sort of material in the middle though in the V2 there is less of it. So it's a decent sponge but if one already has a good sponge, I see no need in getting it.

I tried the new Griot's Garage Rinseless recently and have mixed feelings about it.

It's cleans well, is very slick and overall a good experience. It also dries very well. However, it simply is not good with a sponge as the dirt simply does not rinse out and it stains it. It's not as bad as Labocosmetica Rinseless in terms of staining but it's pretty bad. With the multiple towel method, it's a great rinseless.

The middle adhesive type material is less pronounced in V2 than V1 but it's still there. But other than that, V1 is better - plus the red color is a bit lighter and the sponge just feels softer.

I appreciate you reiterating mine and others complaint about the Idrosave being a terrible media stainer. The fact that you say the GG stains the media just reinforces my conspiracy theory that it's just relabled ONR. When the Guz reviewed it he looked at in the measuring cup, smelled it, and said it's "very ONR-esque". Without having tried it myself, the fact that it looks like ONR, smells like ONR, stains like ONR, and is labeled to soften your conventional wash like ONR...I say it's ONR.

I'm going to skip that one and maybe go for the green if the price is right. I'm not sure how I suddenly got this sponge envy, but I have the Ethos and the USS coming...even though I'm completely against black media where you can't see the dirt. I'm going to blame it on Spring Fever.

I watched a review of the Griot's and apparently one criticism is it doesn't drop dirt from the sponge well.

This dude reminds me of Jonah Hill.

I was able to test out Griot's Rinseless wash myself. Is it the best rinseless wash on the market? Absolutely not. Griot's did a good job to make their version of ONR which is not a bad thing. This is a good polymer rinseless wash for the casual user looking to get into rinseless washing as it will more than likely be available at a local auto parts store.

I can confirm and show that Griot's does not release the dirt that well from a microfiber towel indicating it does not offer the best cleaning power. It does clean well and has very good lubrication under the sponge or microfiber towel. I ended up giving it away as I would personally not use it. If I want a copy of ONR then I would just buy ONR.

Definitely, it’s a good product but not releasing dirt is a big issue for some. I tried their older Brilliant Rinseless back in the day and to me that one seemed to have more of a kick to it. I used that with the multiple towel method and it was a great product but Griot’s discontinued it. Funny you mention Idrosave - it was being hyped up on social media at one point and now you hardly hear about it. So many products and so much hype these days. But once in a while I get sucked in and try the products.

You can’t go wrong with the USS and the Ethos is up there as well. I was surprised about the Ethos but the few times I tried it I liked it. It’s very easy to rinse out. Both are really good.

I still have an unopened bottle of the brilliant finish rinseless wash that I bought after it was discontinued to use up. I'm not a sponge user. I use multiple towels and don't put them back into the bucket. So the dirt not releasing isn't an issue for me. It sounds like it's not a good sponge RW. I don't believe Griot's sells a RW sponge.
