what's the last car care/detailing video you've just watched?

Anyway, the last video I watched was Apex's trim restorer comparison from this morning. One of these years I'll have to get some Solution Finish.

Is that right? I thought he said his son was taking over the detailing business...I didn't interpret that to mean his (Blue Collar) product line. He said he had been made an "offer he couldn't refuse" and that he was spread to thin, so he took the offer. He said something about not knowing what was going to happen with the formulas...that also doesn't seem like something he would say if his son was taking over Blue Collar.
Not sure. His stuff was fine but nothing that ever blew me away that I hadn't already seen. Then he started to have stock issues and I even think one of the BC2 bottles I have was from a bad batch based on purchase date. Overall, I'm not losing much in Apex if he departs.

The post is from beginning May so I can't verify any accuracy. It came from the THOR group.

I hadn’t watched his videos in quite some time but I do remember his son generally seemed more interested in fooling around with his phone than he did actually detailing

Maybe he’s grown up a bit

I don't watch a lot of Apex's stuff, so I didn't know anything about a son, but after he mentioned his son taking over the business, I scrolled back through the videos and found one with apparently his son Brian and grandson Brian. Perhaps it was the grandson who wasn't particularly interested?

I guess I am full of crap or just senile

I remember several videos with a young man who looked like he was of middle eastern descent, and I remember Brian referring to him as his son

I don't remember any son also named Brian

Again, I am old and riddled with CRS (can't remember s#!&)

Not that it even matters in the least

LOL, I dunno...I only remember ever seeing one video of his with anyone else in it, and he just looked like an employee in the background doing something else. It was an old video (I had searched for a particular product review), and he was in a different shop; I remember taking a while to figure that out, I think he's now in a building next to that one.

Oh wait, I just realized that "Brian, Brian, Brian" picture is here, scroll down to "Our Family": https://apexsurfaceprotection.store/

Why didn't they just name the dog Brian too?

The one on the left is who I was referring to and had seen in a few videos and he has indeed grown up

I guess that's how long it's been since I watched one

I honestly had never been on the sales website

Thoughts?

I didn't watch the entire thing but I seem to remember years ago that Kevin Brown was talking about correcting paint with hand cream

I need to go to a junk yard and get a hood and play around with this concept

For science and stuffs

I messed around with 3D Speed years ago on a vehicle with horrible paint just to see what it would take in the way of pads and speeds and passes, etc and there is definitely a damage threshold where something with minimal to no abrasive simply does little to nothing, at least at the level that the naked eye can discern

Unpack that last part for the scientifically challenged.

So with a minimally abrasive polish you tried various pads with various aggression levels and 3D Speed was the ultimate bottleneck? (I left out the part about various techniques on purpose.)

It makes sense to me but ironically my first post here was complaining about this combo stuff and how to climb the "chart of aggression". I chose to just throw money at it and now own way too many polishes and way too many pads.

There wasn't really any science or method to the madness; as I said, I was messing around

Speed was still fairly new to me; I had bought it to use on an RV and I just wanted to see what it was capable of

I knew it wasn't going to correct the paint I was working on but I took advantage of having a test subject that I couldn't possibly hurt to explore the possibilities

I guess the point I might have been trying to make is if you can correct paint with the right pad and hand cream then maybe something like Speed could be made to do more than most of us think it is capable of

I am not suggesting that Speed and a heavy wool pad is a viable option for anything other than messing around

New machines. Looks really good. I will be very interested in the cordless they plan to offer in the future.

I typically avoid Pan's videos but I was interested in how this coating would hold up. I have two bottles and my dad now wants me to coat his truck which he neglects despite various offers to keep it maintained for him. I'm leaning towards trying this out since I don't want to use one of my better coatings on a vehicle that will probably not be maintained as it should.

Was waiting to see if the email was real. To immediately challenge Rupes in the announcement was bold... even if they did it professionally. I figured it was a leftover April Fools email.

Great looking machines. I'm still contend with my first generation griots G15. Its a nice polisher. Good bit more power than my SPTA 15mm cordless.

If i ever buy another machine it will be something cordless i'd imagine - shinemate as a nice machine but i expect they are working on a new unit, Rupes sucks - The ball joint on the barjack looks very neat too.

I started with the Griot's combo (G8 and G9) then started playing around with various brands. Ended up with a cordless Shinemate 15mm and HF Hercules Forced Rotation as my favorites. I've gone way too far overboard for my needs with polishers but really do appreciate being cordless. Recommended!

If i could get one of those Hercules machines in Canada, i probably would. Never tried force before. Barjack plans to make one too but i doubt it will be as cheap as HF. They are making one that spins clockwise.
