What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Between moving the sprinklers around this morning I did some detailing on the interior of the big car and tried out the new Interior Quick Detailer from The Final Details

IMG_6586 copy.jpeg

It is a light yellow and has a very mild but pleasing fragrance, possibly like a tropical drink. I applied it with a MF sponge applicator and wiped it down with a low nap MF terry towel. I am quite pleased with the results on the finicky soft Lexus interior surfaces. It left just the tiniest bit of finish without looking or feeling the least bit wet or greasy. I have found on both Lexus cars that the majority of interior detailers out there either leave the surface looking parched and dried out or they look shiny and wet. This stuff is the perfect compromise. It has light cleaning ability as there were a few coffee oopsies and it handled them perfectly and then left that really nice finish.

Next I tried the Ceramic Waterless Wash. I really don’t ever clean a car with waterless wash but I do keep a bird bomb box in both cars with a small spray bottle of ONR at WW dilution and a few nice towels. I didn’t have any bird bombs but I drove home in a rain squall the other day and got a good coat of dust on the rain so I wet an area down and sprayed a bit on a plush towel and as gently as possible I wiped with a rolling motion and the combination picked the dirt up effectively. I switched sides on the towel and sprayed it lightly and gently buffed the area out. It gets weird here. The area is smooth and silky but at the same time it almost feels staticky. It is a very odd feeling. I tried the same process on the little car since it’s not coated and it worked the same only it didn’t have the static feel. I will be curious to see how the cleaned area on the big car reacts to whatever it encounters on the road. The Waterless Wash is a light green and again, it has a faint but pleasant scent I can’t quite put my finger on.

I can see myself using these products long term and working gallon containers into my supply system

I will try the tire and wheel cleaner and the soap at my next bucket wash and try the ceramic detailer as a drying aid

I'm glad some others are finding this stuff. I really like The Final Details line - very fairly priced too.

I'm glad they worked well for you too!

Had the misfortune of choosing the hottest day of the year so far to Decon polish and coat my gti. Did this at my friends house as he has a metal garage he’s willing to let me leave it in while it cures. Down side is no shade for the wash. Wash and decon was a juggling act of not letting things dry. It was supposed to be cloudy but wasn’t.

I used ads decon soap, gtechnic iron remover, and a griots synthetic clay lubed with Koch chemie gsf

The metal garage is basically an oven. Was 90 outside and probably 105 inside. So I’d polish 2 panels and retreat to the ac took me a long timr. Thankfully it started to rain as I was finishing up

Polished with Koch chemie micro cut and a rupes yellow pad on my 5.5 inch and a micro cut pad on my 3 inch,

I also polished the windshield sunroof and rear glas and coated it with griots new glass coating.

The griots was easy no issues with high spots

Then j started on csl. It seemed easy at first but gave me some serious issues on gloss black and my vw logo it looked like sweat beads but they would NOT wipe away. This was after less than a minute. Thankfully most of the paint escaped this. Though I think one area needs to be examined much more closely in the sun.

I think the issue was the humidity it was 90% which was probably not ideal but I only have the space for the weekend.

I got done with csl and got exo applied to the hood and had to call it. Around ‘Midnight and I was going to make mistakes if I kept
Going. Hopefully applying the exo tomorrow won’t yield massively different results

Enjoy your time back home!

Ofcoarse the front wheels are hammered from the trip, no worries, as is the front of the EN from the trip back to Chicagoland, no worries, I'll be getting after it today

I'll be using my new wheel brush from ADS today as well, has 3 different changeable covers that are washable, can't wait to use them

I’m sure I’ll be out there for the dream cruise. Undecided if I want to just go Friday, or the actual cruise day on Saturday. Last year I parked for too long and didn’t cruise a whole lot. But the parking spot costs money and wanted to use it lol.

First off...Happy Father's Day to all the Dad's today

So I did a "turn and burn" the past 2 days, drove out to the D Friday morning and came back home last evening, about 700 miles in 2 days. I did do a Feynlab v3 RW when I got there Friday afternoon, so when I got home yesterday it was bugs on the windshield & front end, plus the tires & wheels were pretty dirty, especially the wheels, N's have aggressive pads...let's do this

Here's the products used this morning:

Tires & Wheels
------------

-Turtle Wax Rapid Decon
-ADS Wheel Cleaner
-ADS Tire Cleaner
-ADS Ghost
-TAC System Water Flow
-All brushes + new one

Pre-wash & 2BM wash
-------------------

-Labocosmetica Primus
-Labocosmetica Semper
-CarPro Ech2o (drying aid)

Extras
-----

-Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner

-Alien Kleen

I started with the EN and as always, especially here, started with the tires & wheels. Rapid Decon wash applied first, then the ADS Tire Cleaner, followed up by ADS Wheel Cleaner. I've gotta say this right here, right now...ADS Tire Cleaner is RIGHT THERE with Adam's Tire & Wheel cleaner because the browning is almost immediate with ADS Tire Cleaner

I also got to use the new wheel brush through ADS, comes with 3 snap on covers (I used the more aggressive one) and the ergonomics are an 11

For the pre-wash I used Labocosmetica Primus, 4 oz in the Griot's Garage foam gun and really let it dwell. Rinsing away made the beading INSANE

Next up was the 2BM wash and to be honest I made a little mistake, I initially poured 4 oz of Labocosmetica Primus Pre-wash into my wash bucket instead of my Griot's Garage foam gun, LOL. I then added 1 oz of Semper to the wash bucket along with the Primus to make an Uber 2BM wash! The slickness here, plus the "clean you can see" was REALLY impressive

Once rinsed off and after adding TAC System Water Flow to the EN's rims, grill & headlights, lower skirts and rear diffuser, I moved the EN across the street and used CarPro Ech2o made up as a drying aid to "boost it up" a bit, I'm reminded of how incredible Ech2o is and why it's ALWAYS going to be in my collection no matter who & what come along...IT FLAT OUT WORKS

Now since I had everything out there and the TAOS was hammered I then turned my attention to it. I used the same products, especially since my wash bucket soap was so strong and clean but I also cleaned the WeatherTechs with Griot's Garage 3 in 1 Tire/Wheel/Mat Cleaner and not sure if people know about this but it flat out works, very versatile

The tires & wheels came out great, plus I added TAC System Water Flow to the wheels for a quick boost but once done with the pre-wash & 2BM wash I also added it to the entire TAOS, so easy and results speak for themselves

I moved it across the street behind the EN, vac'd it out and added Griot's Garage Stinky Be Gone Leather scent to the interior and re-installed the cleaned WeatherTechs back in🤌

Upon further inspection I'm going to re-apply ADS Ghost to the EN's finicky Michelins. I mean it's still there but between the trip, all the previous touch-free washes and this recent VERY deep clean it kinda needs it

I'm about to do a massive load of mf towels right now, a detailers work is never done, nor is a Father's, Happy Father's Day again you guys

I have a bunch of stuff in my cart that I don’t ‘really’ need and I’m fighting the urge to check out.
$877 worth of stuff, including the Shine Mate small polisher. Quick, someone talk me out of it!

Which small polisher?

Just curious

My Griots G8 3 inch is by FAR one of the best purchases I made for detailing equipment. Not sure about the shine mate but those tiny polisher sure are useful.

I definitely Jinxed myself with this. A good third of the car has some sort of micro streaking. Its very subtle but enough that the coating isnt staying on the car long term. :( I need to either find a Climate controlled garage, or really really watch the humidity for my next attempt.

You posted to the wrong place.

You never know when you might need that stuff and in this day and age, who knows when sales might return to save you this much!

And hey, at least you didn't hit $1,000... you should probably go for it
