What did you do today, in regards to detailing?

Nice colour Chilly on the "Big Rig"

Thanks

I had zero choice when we bought the car

The dealer was only getting that model in silver and white and they only had the one silver one at the time we needed a car

I have gotten to like it

I have had a couple of silver cars in the past and I think they are a classic color, but it can be a challenge to make them pop

This is also my first coated car and the first with extensive PPF so I am still in learning mode

Nice yeah white is hard to keep clean so you chose wisely, our friends just bought a 300 series Toyota Landcruiser and plan on exploring on over to Western Australia in September with their off road caravan.

The Lexus/Toyota products are very nice in my opinion.

My first new car was a 1976 FJ 40 Landcruiser

I would give just about anything to have it back

I agree on Toyota products

I see a few FJ 40 here on the island some reconditioned and other's original.

That period was when a car could be fixed with a coat hanger and some stockings as my Dad would say.

My birthday isn’t for another 4 months. That’s gonna be a long wait for a crystal clear bucket and some cleaning stuff

On a serious note, have you seen the clear turquoise buckets? I’ll see if I can find a link. They’re wicked looking.

I’m glad you got a good haul on your mystery box!

Found it. I love this bucket. It’s 25.99 though ugh.
Yeah I've seen those, very nice! The Carbon Collective RW is right there with Feynlab RW v3, outstanding products

First things first, took the TAOS for it's touch-free wash, it was hammered and it now it's "better", needs a good 2BM wash

Next was the EN, because Saturday mornings are tight on time between my g/f working every Saturday now and my daughter having ice skating, it's why her TAOS didn't get a full contact wash today

For the EN I decided on a good tire & wheel cleaning and Foaming "touchless" wash:

Tires & Wheels
------------

-ADS Wheel Cleaner

-Griot's Garage Tire/Wheel/Mat cleaner

-TAC System Water Flow

-All brushes

Foaming Touchless wash
---------------------

-1 oz of Meg's Hyper Wash

-1 oz of Adam's carwash soap

-Griot's Foam Gun

The tire & wheel cleaning was VERY satisfying, all the funky brown coming out of the barrels, plus the nooks and crannies of the wheels. The foaming 3 in 1 Griot's Garage product really foams nicely and the ADS Wheel Cleaner is always on point

The pre-wash was simply amazing because after a longer dwell, the rinse down, with a simple garden sprayer basically, produced INSANE beading, plus it cleaned VERY well! I added the Adam's carwash soap because it was given to me, a limited edition Christmas bottle but I'm sure it didn't hurt the Meg's Hyper Washes performance

I finished up using TAC System Water Flow on the wheels and entire grill area and this concentrate makes sense and saves CENTS, plus the beading is great! When cleaning my rims it was still beading but because I'll be doing a road trip to Detroit next weekend I wanted "a little extra"

Enjoy the weekend everyone

Quick polish yesterday on a buddys panel truck, if i remember correctly its a 1956. Didnt get picks but it looks the same as the last couple times ive done it. Wiped down with labo's perfecta si02.

It is leaving tomorrow to hit the road for the hot rod power tour. Supposed to rain the day he leaves. He could not source the waterless wash he usuallys uses by Adams polishes. So out of the rinseless' i have on the shelf and knowing he is a sucker for slickness.. i kindly mixed him up a ww solution of ADS hero at 64:1. I personally would have went with n914 for its straight cleaning ability, but ita not slick like hero is. I gave him one of my older IK multi 1.5l sprayers filled and also a extra gallon jug mixed for the 5 day venture.

Its not exactly how i would go about it if it was my vehicle but he is not as peticular as me about how he touches the paint.

Either way hope he enjoys testing out the ww mix of ADS hero and it lives up to the test of the 5 day trip.

They're good. I've got 8 pads and 2 blocks for the dirtier areas. I wait for the right 20% bbs sale at Autoality with free shipping and it is hard to beat them.

Very similar to the multiple towels in RW method and easy to wash these in a machine.

On sale at the moment

I just ordered one of those Ryobi automotive pressure washers to replace my craftsman for car washing duties.

My first electric PWer, what’s the do’s and don’ts with electrics?

Nothing much, just don’t turn it on without the water on. Pretty much every nozzle is safe for car paint except turbo nozzle.

Keep the receipt. Ryobi has a great warranty and there is a good chance you will need to make use of it.

I have a Ryobi 1600 & 1800......no issues in over 5 years....oh wait!...the turbo nozzle broke on the 1600 was all.
Just make sure there is always water flow....don't run them dry

My Turbo nozzle broke too. Well it works sometimes but takes forever to finally work.

I had a Karcher with the turbo lance attachment that would periodically stop spinning. I found if you sprayed a little WD40 into the end of the nozzle it would free up the agitator and restore the orbital movement. Not a long-term fix, but enough to keep you moving.

Had to address what the touch-free wash left behind, now PROPER clarity has returned because it's PURE clean🤌

As you can see in the first shot I went OLD SCHOOL & NEW SCHOOL with products this morning and results were GREAT! I also went GD method as well

Products used
------------

-Turtle Wax Hoseless lift

-Labocosmetica Preludio
(Alkakine)

-6 TRC Eagle edgeless MF's

-ADS large drying towel

Now it's time to get out of here and enjoy the freshness

Detailing of a different kind...... I've been scrubbing the undercarriage of my C3. A leaking seal in the "diff" forced me to do the "full monte" and remove it. It's time for new suspension bushings and brake caliper reseal. Tomorrow the rattle can comes out for a touchup of what I did 34 years ago.

Broke out my half used bottle of ADS hero Rinseless and cleaned my GTI today, excepting the wheels. (I am trying to keep them as unswirlled as possible ahead of a wheel coating next weekend) I pre-treated a few areas with a spray bottle filled with absolute. If I am honest, I think I prefer absolute to ADS.

I came back and hit a few panels with Adams Slick N slide, Ive had a bottle for a few months and someone recommended I five it a try. I applied it to the front of the car, the C pillars, and one window to see the effects. For something called slick N slide it didnt feel as slick as i expected.

I also applied leftover ADS quartz to the interior Piano black trim to hopefully protect it from scratching while cleaning. I preppred it with Absolute and gyeon panel prep.

I cleaned the rest of the interior with Ammo Lather and Gyeon foaming leather cleaner. I then applied gtechniq c6 Matt Dash and L1 leather Guard. Ive only used them once before and my experience was brief. Application was easy, and it seems to look really nice. Please excuse the floor matts, Ive been sick and just focused on my target areas.

The Qashqai has been on school pickup duty this week, so it was dusty and had little finger prints all around the door handles. I gave it a QD with Boost V2, and went over the glass with Garage Therapy One Glass. What was nice was one of my nephews opening the door to get in, stopping, and asking his Nanna, has Uncle Dave cleaned the car? He's getting old enough to notice these things.
