I just spray APC into the bristle, then rinse clean under running water. You could also use a tyre cleaner such as Wise Guy or Undressed.
 
What is the brush in the last picture called and where did you get it?

I use the foam black and yellow curved aplercation.

If you're getting a non uniform look maybe could be that it's not fully cleaned or some part are soaking up the product more then other parts.

Yes tires are scrubbed till foam is white. 3-5 times if that’s what it takes.

Look is always uniform at application and for a few days. A week or so later when it is wearing off is when the non uniform look starts to appear. With other dressings the look just fades completely it seems all at once.
 
I've had that TRC Ultra brush in and out of so many online shopping carts for so long . . . this kinda tips me over to checking out with one next spree. Effectively covering the 33" KO2's is challenging so for $20 I'll give it a whirl.

The brand is RaceGlaze, which are offered as a set, or just the XL version as pictured here. OG sell it, but they get it from Sky's The Limit (Carpro USA). It's great for low profile tyres, the bristles being extremely dense so it hold shape very well.

In my opinion they do, but everyone likes different things. I prefer a brush as they are cleaner and last infinitely.
