The Tire Dressing Comparison Thread

How do you clean the brushes if say you only have one but want to use multiple tyre dressing.

I just spray APC into the bristle, then rinse clean under running water. You could also use a tyre cleaner such as Wise Guy or Undressed.

What is the brush in the last picture called and where did you get it?

Yeah you got to scrub the tyres, and applying this product is a tricky one because you think everything is covered only to go back a see a spot.

I use the foam black and yellow curved aplercation.

If you're getting a non uniform look maybe could be that it's not fully cleaned or some part are soaking up the product more then other parts.

Yes tires are scrubbed till foam is white. 3-5 times if that’s what it takes.

Look is always uniform at application and for a few days. A week or so later when it is wearing off is when the non uniform look starts to appear. With other dressings the look just fades completely it seems all at once.

I've had that TRC Ultra brush in and out of so many online shopping carts for so long . . . this kinda tips me over to checking out with one next spree. Effectively covering the 33" KO2's is challenging so for $20 I'll give it a whirl.

This one?

The brand is RaceGlaze, which are offered as a set, or just the XL version as pictured here. OG sell it, but they get it from Sky's The Limit (Carpro USA). It's great for low profile tyres, the bristles being extremely dense so it hold shape very well.

The other option would be a chalk brush, which is available at hardware shops and Amazon ect -

No, the one before.

Do the brushes work better than the foam applicators?

In my opinion they do, but everyone likes different things. I prefer a brush as they are cleaner and last infinitely.

Just bought the Maxshine red with just the black head.
You've convinced me!

I'd wrap that metal band with some black electrical tape.

Following the same formula as the soap spreadsheet, this is a collation of every tyre dressing I've used since 2003. This spreadsheet is a condensed quick reference version of this entire thread. Some scores have been updated to account for new products and further testing.

Just keep in mind that tyre dressing appearance is subjective. From my point of view, I don't want that super glossy "wet look" for cosmetic reasons, but also because gloss typically translates to sling. Having said that, I want to see a before and after, so a completely matte finish doesn't win me over either. My preference therefore is somewhere in between, a satin finish. So, my overall rating number probably reflect that view. Having said that, the spreadsheet provides a wide range of attributes, and hopefully you can get something out of it no matter your preference.

I mainly only use 1 tire dressing with my brush [Hyper Dressing] but I like to clean it occasionally just to make sure I’m not spreading a dirty brush on the tires.

The way I do it is spray a good APC, IMO the best 1 for this purpose is LA’s Totally Awesome @ full strength, nothing else comes close.

Spray the brush till it’s soaking wet, then agitate it against the concrete making sure to get all sides, then rinse and the brush will be almost like new again. This works for wheel brushes too.

[the big handheld brushes, not the smaller detail style brushes]

I do the same procedure, with either APC or a heavy-duty tire cleaner.

What dilution do you use with Hyper Dressing?
