What did you do today non-detailing related?

Picked up the 18” surface cleaner to replace an old 15” that broke. The 15 I had didn’t have casters.

This should be a nice upgrade!

I love Titanic stuff, but I don't know if I'd go that "deep". Sorry, couldn't help myself. I read The Riddle of the Titanic by Robin Gardiner and Dan Van Der Vat many years ago which got me a little hooked. About 10 years ago they had an exhibition in Melbourne with some genuine artifacts, I think it cost me about $60 for a ticket, but I had to drive 8 hours from Sydney to get there, I could have flown, but that wouldn't have been as much fun. The ticket I got had a passengers name on it, at the end you check a wall with all the passengers and crew, I didn't make it, I still have the ticket somewhere. You may already know this YT channel, Oceanliner Designs, but he does a lot of shipping stuff, but is a bit crazy for Titanic. Here's one of his latest videos.

Another bird crackhouse.... :p
That thing is great, but Torx screws? Your birds must live in a bad neighborhood if they have to worry about someone unscrewing their front door. Or are you just an ex-GM guy and you're worried about cam out?

We drove 3 hours round trip to have breakfast at the Eureka Roadhouse

A fire sprang up yesterday

It looks like it’s just on the other side of those trees but it’s 5 miles away

I also indulged one of my other hobbies

Bug collecting

For those with straight shaft trimmers, don't forget to grease the gearhead on a regular basis.

This doesn't apply to bent shaft trimmers as the driveshaft is directly connected to the spool head. A straight shaft trimmer on the other hand uses a gearbox to change the angle of the output shaft. Considering the speed at which these engines operate, and therefore the gearbox, making sure you have enough lube is vital. Replacement gearheads often carry a significant replacement cost.

This applies to most petrol-powered units, and some battery powered trimmers as well. The exception being certain battery machines that mount the motor at the end of the shaft, in turn eliminating the gearbox entirely. Also, some brands have eliminated the grease port on the cheaper petrol-powered trimmers. However, if you are using a Stihl, Husqvarna, Shindaiwa, Echo or Honda, chances are you have a grease port.

Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo and Honda have their own branded grease tubes for this task, but there are aftermarket options too.

I like the Stihl option because you can thread the tube into the grease port, squeeze to load up the gearbox, then unscrew and replace the plug. Mess free.

Officially, you would check and grease the gearbox every 25-hours of use. For a homeowner, you would probably do this at least once a year. For commercially used trimmers, probably every two or three months.

What burning, box or redgum?
Some soft wood pine but we rotate hard wood for over night burning.

Grown up with wood heaters none of this heat pump hot air, but with age i see both parents switching over due to age, but than again my uncle Peter is 84 and still using a wood heater.

We never had wood heaters, or ducted AC/Heat till now, I wouldn't be without it now. We had my 5 year old great nephew staying over the other night, complained it was too warm in his room, so I hit a button and turned the heat off in his room. We turn the heat off completely about 10pm, program it to come back on around 7am for a couple of hours, set for 20C it keeps the house perfectly comfortable. Most nights we turn it on around 6 or 7.

I do like looking at a wood fire, but going around chopping trees down seems like too much effort. Do you sing the Lumberjack song while you chop the trees down.

Casting 8 oz bait? That would be like throwing rocks on a string, LOL. Though I can recall fishing for salmon with spawn sacks and the goal was just to have the sack keep bumping them in the face to the point where they were pissed off enough to eat it, LOL. I think if I could have cast better (this is with fly rods) a nice half pound sack properly landed might have knocked one of those suckers out! :ROFLMAO:
