So I got shingles in June and still have postherpetic neuralgia. Mine was in my leg nerve, so all through my hip and leg. Terrible pain, I must say. I took two rounds of antiviral meds which really helped stop the rash and help it go away quickly. It's supposed to help reduce the likelyhood of tostherpetic neuralgia pain, but so far hasn't helped me, unfortunately. My summer has been sh!t so far, but I was able to wash my car this past weekend and that was good for my mental state. The pain meds make me wobbly and feeling zapped of energy, but at least I can function now. I just thought I'd pass along that if you're old (like me), you might want to think about getting the shingle shot lol. My doc says you can get shingles more than once so in 6 months, I'm gonna get the vaccine! Hopefully my lingering nerve pain will be going away soon.
