I have microfiber towels orange that I got from sams club and some yellow ones I got from costco.

both feel the same to me from memory but I havent compared side by side.

My question is, are these good enough for polishing and waxing, I use rags for the interior.

I also saw a thread the other day that talked about the % content of each they used and the ones on AG I can only find 70/30 so whats the difference and what do I want.

use the towel on the back of a CD. Does it scratch the CD? If so then do not use it on your paint.
 
The 70/30 is what you want, they are alot soft and will not mar your finish. The boutique mf's are the only way to go. The store bought towels are usually used for interior and underhood use.
 
Don't know about Sam's Club mf, but dont use the costco towels on your paint. I use them for wheels and under the hood.
 
I have used Viking towels from K Mart to dry my car and no ill effects. I do prefer the boutique brands but I still think Viking towels are very nice.

the viking mf's (there are 4 specific ones) are every bit as good as the boutique IMO. when you can buy them in bulk, AG (exceldetail as well) is the way to go and like i said before, i have yet to be dissapointed with any MF i've used from AG as they are very high quality (BTW, the new 530's are awesome). as long as any MF performs with no ill effects and YOU like it, then that's all that matters and you're good to go...
 
I have the Yellows from Costco and they have caused me much grief. The biggest problem is they lint like crazy even after multiple washes. I only use them for tires now. I don't even use them for my interior anymore which is why I originally purchased them. Whats worse, before I realized, I washed my 10-15 AG top quality MF's with them and now they lint also. At someone elses suggestion I boiled them twice but I have not cleaned my car since then. I'll find out tomorrow morning during my weekly cleanup. If I end up having to buy new AG towels because of those cheapos I'm gonna be some kinda POed...
 
In my area the have BJ'S stores similar to a COSCO and there they sell the brand name TRADE CRAFT microfiber towels and they are 80/20 You get a 40 pack for 15 bucks. these towels are super. No linting-no running in the wash-no nothing. Just a great-great towel!!! You get 20 white ones and 20 blue ones. There dim's are 14x14 Anyway thats It...:righton:
 
I know the ones you're talking about. I got a package from my folks for X-mas. They are only good for my engine, tires, and interior. Will never let them touch paint as I seen one mar my paint doing a IPA wipedown.

I am so impressed w/mine. I wash them w/micro-restore and they are so soft it isn't even funny. never had any marring problems. Or any problems. Honest.

When choosing microfibe towels quality is very important, as a lack of quality inspection will result in variable results i.e. towels that will cause surface scratches, leave a trail of lint, etc. Microfibre quality is very often refelected in the purchase price, best advise, use only high quality microfire towels from a reputable source.

For over a year, I was convinced that my vroom MF towels were good enough and even though I would buy boutique polishes etc online, i would continue to buy Vroom MF from target. But then I enede dup getting some good Cobra MF and now Vroom is interior, wheels, and maybe door jams.

and yes, the Vikings are really nice(thick yellow polishing and the emerald green QD)
 
I use the orange ones from SAMS for interior care. They aren't plush enough for paint duty in my opinion.

I use the yellow and green ones from SAMS for paint care. They are great and have never swirled the paint one me.

the new proforce mf towels (light blue or yellow) at sams aren't bad (still use them for non-paint related tasks) and are alot nicer than then previous ones (hometex) they use to carry...
 
the problem with buying in bulk, especially in these warehouse savings clubs, you are bound to have a couple seconds or misses slipped in.
