Well i love polishing and waxing, but i can only do it so much to one car before i start losing my mind lol. Basically, i need to somehow find a way to wash my car, but at the same time, get no swirls back, no steaks, no nothing. Everytime i wash, my mitt leaves behind a trail, not a terrible scratch trail, but it looks like holograms. Is the sheepskin mitt and grit guard my best option in tryin to prevent this?
 
Grit guard is a great way to remove any crud from the wash mitt so you don't end up reusing that dirt to create swirls.

As for wash mitts, I'm generally not biased. I recently purchased the Pinnacle Microfiber Wash Mitt on BOGO and they are really nice. Very smooth surface which shouldn't cause any swirls. Same with The Bone by Cobra wash mitt....very smooth and clean wiping when washing the vehicle.
 
I never let the mit hit the bottom by drapping it over the side of the bucket. Also, rince the mit a few times while you wash the car.

I use Zaino car wash....2-3 cap fulls does the job.
 
Alot of the scratches come from the drying process. What are you using to dry the car with.

How about you tell us what your process is and we can help you fine tune it.
 
Gotcha, well im actually ashamed to even say it cuz i should know better by now hahaha. Basically its one bucket, Rain-X car wash, and a white wash mitt i bought at Autozone lol. Drying wise i got my Supreme Cobra Guzzler so im GOOD there hahah
 
You know the supreme guzzler is a 80/20 blend. Which is a little harsher on the paint, than the HD Guzzler that is a 70/30 blend. The rain-x carwash is really not that lubricating.

Megs gold class, or even DP autobath will give you more lubrication. You'll notice the mitt slide across the paint.

Well right when i thought the Supreme guzzler was soft, no i find out its not so soft haha. So what are the SOFT-est drying towels around?

ding ding ding, we have a winner, although the 2 bucket method is an important step, I feel there is much more possible marring from drying the car since you are depleating your lubrication
 
Ahhh yess! So i need more lubrication! gosh you guys help out so much i feel like i should pay you.

The cobra HD guzzler is a softer blend(70/30). Like I said the one you have is a 80/20. Remember to drag the mitt, or the drying towel across the paint. You can induce marring if you push it into the paint.
 
Gotcha, so far we got this

1. Get some Megs Gold Class or something with alot of lubrication
2. Maybe use an 70/30 blend that is softer on the paint
3. 2 bucket wash
4. and DRAG the mitt and towel, not push

So with those four, should i be set for marring-free wash ! it would be my first ever lol
 
are you using a leaf blower to get most of the water off in the beginning when drying?
 
i have never tried that before. A neighbor of mine does on his wheels and calipers do they dont rust. It would be interesting to try no doubt.
 
i acutally just tried it for the firt time before starting my polishing on my car. moves more water than i thought it was going to. you should give it a try, definately cuts time in more than half and then just use the guzzler for the rest of the water. i know i am new here, but i really dont see any harm in doing so actually.

maybe someone else will shed some light on this idea...

A lot of guys on here and at autopia use leaf blowers. I would, but my neighbors already think I'm anal enough:D I use my compressor to get the water out of the cracks.
 
Hahha Loudog, i have the same problem. My neighbors dont come outside very often, but whenever they do, im always washing my car. I imagine their view of me is that "im a 20 year old that dropped out of school and only cares about his car."
