Cobra Microfibers causing marring

I just finished detailing my friends 01 Mercedes CLK-55 in black. We took out all his scratches with Meguiars 105 and Menzerna 85rd. However once we finished he went back over the hood to buff it out a little more, dry, with a cobra purple microfiber cloth. It was a brand new rag. As soon as he started wiping it down, he noticed it cause light scratching/marring. I thought CObra Microfibers do not cause scratches. Whats the deal with this? How can this be avoided. Is there a better brand or different type of Cloth to use to avoid this??
 
Never wipe light dust after polishing dry. Always use a QD and a good mf or better yet, use an IPA or prep sol wipe down before LSP.

I do not think 80/20 vs 70/30 really matters. I also know that some 80/20 labeled microfiber may actually be 70/30 cloth if it has a satin edging.
 
ive found some 80/20 and 70/30 Vroom products at Target and i can see they are not as soft and thick as Cobras. Just a good go between if you need some short-lived microfibers.
 
If you have a choice, pick the 70/30 blend towels. Cobras can also marr a little bit as well. Like stated above, try putting a little QD down before wiping. Also, you could check out the towels over on PakShak. They are of very high quality.

There is a big difference between the 2. A good quality 70/30 is alot softer than the 80/20 and should not leave any marring. Also what country they come from plays a role in how well they work.

IMHO...

It really doesn't matter if you have a 70/30 or 80/20 blend towel. As long as it performs with no ill effects. I have seen 70/30 blend towels outperform 80/20 blend towels and vice versa. It all really depends on the quality of material (raw materials), weave, and finished goods process that determines how a towel performs. Other factors to consider are the dyes used, stitching, and edging on the towels.

I like the cobra's but will check out Ranney's due to word of mouth
 
i tried it again after with some QD and it still caused some minor marring/scratching. And they are the 70/30 purple deluxe jr. ones. They were brand new, freshly washed. I was really shocked to see that. Maybe its a bum towel. Ill check it out. I did not notice this problem with my Pak shak ones. Im going to do a direct comparison.
 
I find it very hard to believe that a plush towel like the deluxe jr caused this problem. It is a very soft and plush towel, was there any dusting left over when you did the wipe down?
